yeah....the red light district is for tourists....if you are taking your impressions of the prostitution industry in amsterdam from there you have missed a hell of a lot.

Yeah I'm sure I'm not comparing like-with-like. London's equivalent would be walk-ups in Soho with signs on the street saying "Model upstairs". Never been in one - they're seedy, often the girls are trafficked, etc.

I did get a bad BJ from a window girl in Amsterdam, all I remember is she told me off for putting my hands on her shoulders while she did it, apparently I wasn't allowed to touch her. WTF?

I have seen those little signs on doors walking through Soho before but i was wondering what are the "Licensed Sex Shops" in Soho i see people go in and out of. Couldn't bring myself to go in and find out what they were.

Please explain, anyone hav any good cheap info on how to get to amsterdam as cheap as possible. 800 a plane ticket seems expensive, esp. if you have to pay for multiple tickets. Whats the best cities to leave from?

here ya go

How is this cheap? Unless I'm reading it wrong it says the average fare is $100 a day and the duration of trips is weeks.

Porn/sex toys/etc. These shops need to get a license from the local council in order to trade. Also, they aren't allowed to have a window display, which is why they look ominous.

You did well to avoid them though. Pretty well everything in Soho is a rip-off.

Also, luckyjimm, if you were servicing drunken tourists in Amsterdam's Red Light District, I'm guessing that you wouldn't want to give any of them the opportunity to pin you down either. Imagine how many of them would try and choke-f**k you if you'd let them get away with it? You should count yourself lucky she just told you off, and didn't call for the big bruiser lurking behind the scenes to come and give you a good kicking.

Amsterdam Update:

The poker table has been removed from the casino at the airport. Space is scarce, and apparently they rarely managed to get the game going, as people are usually only hanging around for an hour or so.

Er, my friend reckons that the hookers are much higher quality in Brussels, in the street that runs by the side of Gare du Nord, parallel to the tracks.

Also, British food has a reputation for being the worst in the world, but anyone who thinks this is even remotely true has never been to London

As an Brit living in Amsterdam I can assure you that its a tie. The only decent food in either country comes from the ex-colonies (excluding U.S. of course).
