Re: MNF Football: Cowboys vs. Bills

Romo doesn't need to TO the ball 6 times for the Patriots to win.

Pats -5 to -6, almost solely because of this game.

I think its pretty obvious the Bills would MUCH rather give up the shot at a 53-yarder by a rookie than give up something big deep or down the middle with all their guys watching the sideline. Kid's just got ice in his veins.

Congratulations, you are officially the the dumbest poster in the forum.

[/ QUOTE ]

It got lost in quick reply, but I was responding to someone who said Buffalo should have put 4 or 5 guys on each sideline. Plus, if you think that was an easy play to defend at all, you're insane. You've got TO and Crayton, I'd much rather force them to dump it off and try from 50+ with a rookie than let them get deep anywhere.

[/ QUOTE ]

Still wrong.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, I guess I would just put my entire defense on the sidelines instead of just saying "don't let anything get deep, we'll give them 3 yards and make him kick it deeeeeep if they catch it."

I guess all those years of playing football in high school and college haven't taught me anything, especially since I've played both as a defensive back and a kicker. I must not know anything about how the game is played, and neither do the coaches who always say "we're not going to give up the deep ball, we'll give them 2 or 3 if they catch it".

Look at it this way...would you rather have their kicker kicking a 53-yarder or a 40-yarder? Also note his career long is 47 in the pros, and he's a rookie. I know which one I'd pick.

Gobias - I wasn't teasing. It was really sad to see those dudes crying.

Sorry dude, I completely read your comment out of context. No one really understands what this is like unless you're from Buffalo. We just find ways to repeatedly become the punchline for everyone else in America.

As for the NYC guy, I make no apologies. You're trash. Your city is trash. Your people are trash. You start Rangers chants during a moment of silence last year on the day there was a massacre at Virginia Tech.

Obv a Bills or Pats fan. Cowboys 6-0 next week! Count On it! Romo will not have 6 TOs next week.

[/ QUOTE ]

yeah, a Pats fan who thinks you're annoying after only 2 posts. Are there any non-Pats or Bills fans who disagree with me?

I know I'm in the minority, but this is why I don't like the onside kick - just adds a pure luckbox factor.

[/ QUOTE ]

Please. The Bills played that onside kick terribly.

[/ QUOTE ]

It's a coin flip across the league.

[/ QUOTE ]

Onside kicks are most certainly not 'coin flips!'

[/ QUOTE ]

You're saying some teams only allow like 20% of onsides to be recovered and some like 80%?

[/ QUOTE ]

For [censored]'s sake, the average successful onside kick rate has got to be in the twenties if not the teens. That's why it's a desperation / trick play.

[/ QUOTE ]

13% of anticipated onside kicks were recovered by the kicking team

[/ QUOTE ]

That's weird - I distinctly remember the 50-50 stat from about 5-6 years ago. Maybe rules changed or defenses changed like this article guesses. But I still don't like it - it just gives the losing team a freeroll at the end of games.

[/ QUOTE ]

Special teams is 1/3 of your team. Defending an onside kick is part of a sound special teams unit. Must be sound in the kicking game.

I've heard 50-50 for years - hence the coinflip reference.

[/ QUOTE ]

Well, that is asinine, and you should be able to see that clearly. If the league average was 50% you'd see teams that rarely if ever kicked it deep.

Whitner....the guy going to catch it when the Cowboy player jumped up to get it ...

...it was a great individual effore by Dallas guy to get up there and get it...but it was still lucky

[/ QUOTE ]

yeah, no. It was a great kick by the Dallas kicker, and whoever #20 for Buffalo is did a terrible job trying to recover it. Dallas wanted it more.

[/ QUOTE ]

And since you think this was as bad as the Norwood miss, I'm going to offer my condolences to you and head to bed, because there is absolutely no way you're in a right state of mind.

[/ QUOTE ]

You're not a Bills fan and haven't had to suffer with this franchise that has been terrible since the Super Bowl run so I don't see how you can pass judgment.

I can totally see where this guy is coming from. Buffalo has not made a playoff appearance since 1999 and has not won a playoff game since 1995. Their fans have had nothing to be even remotely excited about in quite a while. This was their biggest game in years, on national television versus an undefeated team in week 5. They had numerous chances to do something huge and awake from the dead, even if just for a week and they could not do it. And to lose the game in that fashion after they had been winning all night w/ a terrific chance to pull off a big upset really has to hurt inside. So I can certainly pick up what this poster is putting down.

[/ QUOTE ]

Cuz there were a sh**ton at the game. Cowboy fans travel better than any nfl team. Maybe steelers/packers second.

I had several friends there. They said 10% Cowboys fans, TOPS!

LOLz, it's not difficult to take away the quick outs AND not get beat deep for the TD, that's all they had to take away.
