btw, yesterday the two idiots mike and the mad dog were right on the money with their assessment of last nights pitching matchup. lots of runs and a bullpen battle.
and of course they said the mets would be lucky to win one game.

Jeter AND A-Rod bombs. At least this shows yesterday's game was DEFINETLY due to variance!

Posada just led off with a double. I'm having to use the ESPN GameCast because for some god forsaken reason, NYY@NYY isn't being broadcast here. I've got three games going, all in HD: ATL@CLE, WAS@TOR, and SDG@CHC, but I don't get the Subway Series. What a crock. I better get the game tomorrow night on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball.

Oh and by the way... Reyes is so sick. You can never let him get on first with 0 or 1 outs.

Oh how three weeks can change things. Doesn't this team look really super good now? Now they have a rest day and CMW saved the bullpen yesterday and there are 9 games against sub 500 teams coming up. Time to gogoogogogo.

Also, remember when everyone was skeptical of CMW and didn't really know what to make of him? It is a lot of fun seeing him do so well. He is 27, and over his career has pitched 413 innings with 164Ks, 100BBs, and a 3.69 ERA. Pitching in the AL East with a [censored] defense, putting up well under 1 K every 2 IP, and posting that good an ERA, who would have thought things could have turned out this well with him. He has just consistently gotten better and better, every year his walk rate has dropped and his K rate has increased. When I look at his stats at night I get a little wet.

CMW is one of my favorite players. I have defended him on this forum since last year when people said his success wasn't sustainable. My argument then was "not every ground ball is created equal." That meant his heavy sinker created slow, easy-to-field ground balls as opposed to the sharp ones that go for hits.

Thanks to "Gator" (Guidry) I now have another argument. He has started using an extremely effective slider and change-up as well as an occasional curve ball. He is mixing in these pitches very effectively. 10 Ks yesterday shows this. All last year I was saying if he could just develop a change, it would make his 95 MPH heater devastating. I am glad to say I was right!

This kid is just beginning to see his potential. As his K-rate increases, his "sickness" rate does too, haha. He could win a cy, if not this year, then next year.
