that's why a good filmmaker working without a budget and whatnot will use the great, untapped resource of theatre actors. rehearsal time is free, they know more about acting than you do, and they're usually more than willing to do a film.

plus, they give consistent performances and you can pretty much cast based on performances in plays. once they get the hang of the difference between film and stage, it makes things so much easier

katy,

if a director has that problem, that's a really bad sign

Dance lovers,

Eliminations on So You Think You Can Dance tonight. Those in the bottom 3 will have to dance for their lives. It goes pretty fast so not much time to impress the judges.

Also, check out this hostess! Her red dress is just stunning. I love it.

I was somewhat surprised to see the disco in the bottom 3 instead of the salsa, but they were close. I think the correct people went home, though.

Wow, Wookie, you did very well with your picks!
I do sort of agree with you about the Salsa couple.

Really? I kind of liked that guy myself. I was getting all teary eyed when they played his tape.

************************************************

Going back to last nights show, here are my thoughts -

The swing dancers were my favorites. Oh my god. Awesome. I liked the guy a little more than you did. I'll keep my eye out for his Laila connection though.

I liked the third dance too. That was a classic "Mia" style. We should see more of that as the competition progresses. Mia is the heavy, short haired choreographer. She is said to have the most difficult routines.

To my amateur eye, the Argentine tango couple were a little awkward but I attributed it to unfortunate choreography. Also, I felt the guy was actually quite good considering he had to push the amazon girl around the floor. (Actually, I felt she brought him down, not vice versa.)

The marionette thing was hilarious. In that one I thought the girl out-danced her partner by a hair. They are going to be a lot of fun to watch. I like her a lot!

The waltz couple were stunning. I can't believe that girl. Isn't she a break dancer (or hip hop)? Wow. Hard to believe she could transform herself.

Brother, I can't remember the second hip hop at all. I'll have to skip over that one. Wait, was that the one with the Faina girl? I guess it must have been. Hm, still can't remember it.

The salsa was pretty good, but I believed in her more than I believed in him. Also, the guy looks a whole lot like a blonde Commodus.

[/ QUOTE ]

lol! a blonde commodus indeed. Good one Wookie. The girl is amazing. She is also very enthusiastic. She should go far in this competition I think.

Finally, I agree with what you said about the Broadway one. Not as exciting as the others.

Overall I think this seasons contestants are very, very good. It is a strong group and probably a little better than last year.

Did you like the dance off? How about that Russian girl, Faina! My boyfriend actually took his eyes off his paper to watch her dance. He approved.

OH, and I loved Benji's solo. That was very impressive [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
