lol I had just finished season 1 of The Wire before watching this movie and couldn't help but be bored with it. Same damn general story but McNulty is a way better character. Anyway, Denzel was amazing as usual but the story was definitely missing something. I guess when comparing it to the 13 hour "movie" of The Wire that's to be expected.

fwiw i dl'd it, didn't watch it, then went and saw it in the theater.

it was definitely a very good movie, but my expectations were that i would be leaving the movie theatre saying it was up there with scarface/godfather, which it definitely wasn't.

I don't think the movie was bad, but it wasn't great. I guess I was expecting something a little more 'epic', but it didn't quite deliver. I didn't care much for the way the ending was just thrown at you within the span of minutes (regardless of if it's totally based on the true story), and the acting was alright -- nothing horrible, nothing outstanding. Also didn't think it felt like the 2.5 hours it was, thought it went by very quickly. The music in it was good, though. I'd give it a 6 or a 7 out of 10. 6.5 seems good, actually.

Worth seeing, but nowhere near as good as hoped. I'd give it a solid 6/10.
