I'm a flat-out apologist, but this episode was definitely bump in the road material. I'd like to think they put it out there just to prevent me from becoming a real life, male version of Mel.

My interpretation was that they know they are "novelty" musicians, but they don't understand that this means they are a joke band.

This was my least favorite episode of the series thus far. Still some hilarious parts though.

The first song was so funny it was worth the lame 2nd one. Plus the bowie dream seqs were freaking genius.

The Bowie song was lame, and the ep was subpar. But there were a few hilarious bits, for instance:

Bret: Is it a muffin?
Murry: No.
Jemaine: Is it another kind of muffin?

I don't know what everyone here is talking about. I thought this episode was hilarious. In fact, I'm really surprised that nobody really liked it...
