Let us suppose,
I behave in such a way that I am promised heaven. At some point in my life I have a child that does not behave in the same way, and it is therefore certain that my child will not go to heaven. Is it possible for me to be eternally blissful knowing that my child will never come to heaven? |

of course it is possible.
i am guessing God could explain away any trouble you had with it, i hear he is a pretty convincing guy, being omniscient and all. Seriously though, i am pretty sure its like the laws of physics for many christian types, the unworthy just can't get into heaven, its nothing to get upset about. it would like being upset with being unable to travel faster than the speed of light. justice must be served, as a righteous person you would presumably recognize the need for justice to be served and would probably be pretty fatalistic about the whole issue. eventually at least. |

how do you view bliss? transcendental experience? if so your child's unsuccessful breach of heaven however absurd or un-absurd that supposition may be would be a part of that transcendental experience no?
but you would feel grief and are wondering if that would depress you out of bliss, down to lower levels of consciousness? |

At some point in my life I have a child that does not behave in the same way, and it is therefore certain that my child will not go to heaven. Is it possible for me to be eternally blissful knowing that my child will never come to heaven? Post Extras [/ QUOTE ] When I was a child, this question greatly bothered me because I figured my parents had a good chance of making it to heaven but that I would somehow mess up and not make it. I asked my parents if they would miss me and be miserable if this were the case. They explained that it really is no problem at all. God would make it so they would have absolutely no memory of me. |

Can you be happy when your parents are unhappy?
Do you think your getting drunk makes your parents happy? How about all the people you had sex with? Did you stop getting drunk or sleeping around? |

"Is it possible for me to be eternally blissful knowing that my child will never come to heaven?"
It is likely as far as I can figure, that any eternal afterlife would make our experiences on this earth seem petty in comparison. But I really don't know. I'll leave that one to the all knowing God if he's there. |
