So wait, there wasn't an OOT Survivor with Nation and PITTM?

One where Nation was getting his ass kicked, until PITTM started posting in the thread and got several people to change their vote from Nation exile to PITTM exile?

None of this happened?

i know youre used to getting every single call cause your owner will whine in his blog if you dont, but yeah, it must be difficult to accept such insanely biased refereeing in your favor. i wish i knew how that felt.

anyway...

Golden State was really impressive defensively last game. I think they're winning games on that end, not on offense. It's like they know exactly how Dallas will react when they double someone, then deny passing angles and rotate beautifully. If they can continue stopping penetration and doubling with no consequences they might even get a few days rest before the next series.

God, I love Horry. I couldn't wipe the smile off my face for hours after he hit that shot last night. That was just an all around great game.

I like this Denver team, but at this point, I think AI is maybe hurting more than he helps. Melo is an absolute beast; his play in this series has been MVP-caliber. Denver really needs a guy who can hit an open 3, and maybe play a little perimiter D - someone like Finley.

Anyway, I said my piece about all the delusional whiners. At this point, I'm genuinely sorry for all the people who can't enjoy the Spurs play, whether rooting for them or not. When they're on their game, it's a thing of beauty.

Default Can it be Spurz rant tiem now plz?

Alrighty,

I am one of the two biggest Nuggets fans I know. I only know about two Nuggets fans as I live in Dallas. So take that as it is.

I grew up in Colorado, watched game 5 of the Seattle series when I was 12 years old, fell in love with the Nuggets, only to see them not make the playoffs for a decade.

NI-ICE!!!

Fast forward to this year. I've watched nearly 25 nuggets regular season games, which is crazy being in Dallas (I [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] teh internetz), and was obviously very very excited, nervous, and really anticipating this series with the Spurs.

But they simply make me hate the game of basketball.

I am a logical, open-minded being. When people complain about refereeing, it's a tough line to walk. The referees have a tough job to do, they are human.

And the Spurs exploit that to a t.

Tim Duncan in the first half was being played physically (just like HE was on the other end) and not getting calls. He'd make a crappy shot at the basket, turn to the refs, shake his head, and run back down the court. During a stoppage in play, he'd go and coax the referees into making him see the Spur light.

Manu Ginobili hit Carmelo's hand on a jump shot. It wasn't major contact, but it was a foul, no doubt about it. He runs to the other end of the court with his hands in the air in disbelief. Then he goes to the ref and explains how he was just cheated.

Manu moves his feet to try and draw a charge, he gets called for the block. He immediately gets up and whines and tells the referee what he did wrong.

Nene gets called for 3 fouls, and each time raises his hand and accepts the penalty. He isn't complaining about getting hacked to the refs. He's playing basketball. However, he gets penalized for not whining down the stretch as Duncan shoots a fadeaway jumper, Nene plays defense on him VERY well with his body possibly altering Duncan's shot slightly, and gets called for his fifth foul. He then is frustrated as it's his fifth foul.

Duncon, on the other end gets his body into Nene as he goes up for a layup, no-call.

Carmelo gets double teamed by Manu and Oberto. Melo swings his arms around and MISSES Oberto entirely. The replays show this. Oberto, who has learned from Manu obviously goes flying backwards and gets the offensive foul called on Melo.

What does he do? He puts the ball in the referees hands and walks down the court.

I am a Nuggets fan. I hate biased viewpoints. I'm trying not to have one. But the Spurs have a style of manipulating the officials and the other team by the style they play. You could arguably say that Duncan and Bowen foul three times as much as they get called for. Why? They create an atmosphere around themselves and around the referees that they are the ones playing within the rules, not the other team.

Melo getting his 4th foul lost the game for the Nuggets, plain and simple. They get outscored by 12 points in the next 4 minutes where he is out. He was owning the Spurs, doing it professionally, without complaint, and he is punished for being the classy one.

Allen Iverson also is guilty of the Duncan/Manu whiny complex, don't get me wrong.

But I've been reading Spurs Talk some today, and they seriously think that they overcame bad officiating to win the basketball game. This is because of the atmosphere and manipulating that the Spurs are used to. They have garnered a reputation of playing "Great" defense because of their psychological and physical game they play with the other team and with the referees.

The Spurs suck the life out of a team this way. They're damn good at it. They are, IMO, the best team in basketball. But the way they do it is frustrating. They have no incentive to stop whining and acting like the poor victim child all the time because they are rewarded for it.

The Nuggets only have themselves to blame. If JR Smith could hit a freaking shot or pass to the right team, if Blake would just get some confidence, if Karl knew how to coach in the clutch, et cetera, this would be a 2-2 series or maybe ever 3-1 the other way, who knows.

This probably came off as more homerism than I wanted, and I geuss I'll probably get called as much. I just had to get my thoughts down. I'm not saying AT ALL that the refs decided the game last night. But the Spurs reaction/manipulating of the calls the way they do did affect the game. And power to them. It's obviously been successful, and they again, have no incentive to stop.

I really think the Spurs are your 2007 champs. So good luck to them this postseason. But overall, this series kind of puts a bad taste in my mouth when it comes to NBA basketball.
