Brag: hit a royal flush on a video poker machine tonite.

Beat: It was on a 5-play MultiStrike machine. So even though I was playing $10 a pull, it was only two credits per hand (instead of 5). So, no $1000. I won $125.

Variance: It happened on the bottom level, so no 2x 4x or 8x multiplier.

Can anybody help with some simple EV stuff I dont remember how to do?

We are SB w/ Ad9d. BTN raises to 4BB w/ AA, we call in SB, every1 else folds.

Pot = 9BB

Flop: 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

We lead 7BB, BTN raises to 30BB, we shove....being a 48/52 dog we lose $4 every time we do this....how do I calc stuff if BTN will fold a certain % of the time?

Can anybody please show me? Thanks

[/ QUOTE ]

Basically this kind of stuff is extremely complicated and is based around deriving some kind of range for your opponent. Basically, you just assign a range including all the possible hands he could have, and then assign a calling range out of the original. Then it's just a simple EV calc.

BTW, Fold preflop.

Could we just assume we know he has AA? lol, no folding this hand.

[/ QUOTE ]

If x = % he folds and y = % he calls and z = % u win when he calls.

Then EV = x*(9 + 7 + 30) + y*z*(9 + 96 + 96)

[/ QUOTE ]

.1(46) + (.9)(.48)(201) = 4.6 + 86.83 = 91.43
0(46) + (1)(.48)(201) = 96.48

Is this correct? that we would rather be called 100% of the time than 90% of the time?

I lose all the big pots at 400nl somehow, and I'm still managing to be up a little bit after <5k hands...

I'm a college freshman taking 16 credit hours of sophomore-junior level classes.

I do lots of stuff.

Thus, I play like 500-1200 hand sessions and I play rarely.

Is this standard? Do I suck? Should I play more?
