29. ... Qe6 Can't call it horrible but the queen is nice in the center, why move it further away. 29... Nc3 appears to be the top move at this point... [/ QUOTE ] 29...Qe6 blocks our own rook from coming back to the Q-side if necessary. I don't understand the aversion to 29...Nc3. We close the c-file, deny him the d-file, attack the a2 pawn, and make a deadly threat that he must deal with immediately. 30.Rc2 is hardly an acceptable move (30...Rd6 31.Qf3 h3 32.Rc1). In fact I have yet to see any acceptable move suggested for white here by the people who do not like ...Nc3. |

One possible example and hopefully this is terribly flawed! 29..... Nc3 30. Rxc3 Qxc3 31. Qxb2 Qa1+ 32. Kg2 Qxa2 (possibly h3 will come into play?) 33. Qa8+ Kh7 34. Qe4+ g6 35. Bd4 ooppsss [/ QUOTE ] or... 31. h3 Qa8+ 32. Kh7 Qe4+ 33. g6 Qh4+ 34. Kg7 Qxh3 Don't like the queen out of play however he's got some weak squares..... |

29..... Nc3
30. Rxc3 Qxc3 Possible if this stuff holds water white would have to play Qc6 to take away the d-square from the black queen. Now we have to be careful that he does not slip h3.... |

[/ QUOTE ] We probably have to not reject the draws in some of the lines you looked at. But how about 29...Nc3 30.Rxc3 Qxc3 31.Qxb7 Qc6 32.Qxc6 Rxc6 Do we have winning chances here? If 33.Bxa7 h3! and we will win one Q side pawn because of the mate threats, then bring our king over to stop it so the rook can go after the h2 pawn. Or 33.gxh4 and then we can save our a-pawn and he's got some weaknesses. |

[/ QUOTE ] Yes we can't reject the draw, we may "need" Nc3 and it might lead to a draw but that's chess. 33.gxh4 Ra6 (cause I think it's cool and we can. Always a stupid reason to choose a move, so we may have better? ) 34. a4 Ra5 The rooks gets to a nice "set" of squares while protecting the pawn. For example d5, after we move our a pawn. I don't think we are behind in any of these endings..... |
