[/ QUOTE ] It isn't variance, its the Mets. Your perception of your team as unclutch is created by the pitching. Think about it. Phillies = Awesome Offense, Bad Pitching... You are going to lose more games 10-9 then you are going to 3-2. When a team loses 10-9 they probably had a lot of runners on, meanig there are going to be a lot of spots where the offense fails, selective remebering creates the perception of non clutch. If you rooted for the Mets, you would know what not clutch ACTUALLY is.
