oh in case you missed it i dont think the arod blast has anything at all to do with anything other than winning that game (which was huge). however i choose to deal in logic rather than baseball witchcraft, so please factor that in.

[/ QUOTE ] no you send it sent them 'slumping'....i showed it really didn't. seriously, the red sox winning % against those two teams on the road isn't that much higher than 50% to begin with...if i had to make a rough guess i would say its around 54% when you factor in the 4-3 weighting in Oakland's favor...22 runs for and 21 against isn't that far off from what was mathematically expected. if they had scored 18 and allowed 30 or something, then well yeah the team isnt playing that well....even that wouldnt mean a whole lot over 7 games. |

[/ QUOTE ] um, no. the home run was enormouse for a few reasons: 1) it occured in the 9th inning 2) it put his team ahead 3) it occured against the other teams relief ace 4) it occured against the team that most influences the NYY playoff hopes |

[/ QUOTE ] I am being sort of sarcastic and you also are missing the point. The point is, if you are looking from andyfox's short term view, then winning 9/11 and beating the red sox at fenway would qualify as proof that they are a good team and not a "pathetic" one. its not correct reasoning, but the point is by the standards that andy had during the first 50 games, then right now the yankees are a really good team and arod is the clutchest dude ever. thats not what i think, what i think is the yankees were a very good team that got insanely unlucky, and for the past short while they've gotten lucky instead and are just showing how good they can be. its also a really fun to watch the team youve been watching screw up week after week kick some ass for a change. everyone who though the opening of the season was proof they were a bad team or done for the season is finally going to shut up, thank god. in reality its not that simple and they are in a big gap, but theres a lot of hope and its just nice to watch arod hit a [censored] of late game home runs. it has always pissed me off how everyone booed arod, and now hes having a monster monster season. |
