Many-time voter, first-time poster.

I like hxg3 here (I think TimM analyzed this already). But Qb2 seems reasonable too.

Qb2 sucks because the Bishop is protecting the Rook.

We need to do something about f4, if he does that we probably end up hanging the knight and losing it.

Well there are other threats too (maybe Nxf2 Bxf2, Qxc1 or simply Qxa2). I'm stil leaning towards hxg3, but I'm just throwing Qb2 out there for discussion/beratement.

I can't see him playing f4 after hxg3, since it allows gxh2+ and a whole lot of harrassment from our Q and R.

not in immediate response to hxg3, i'm talking about the move after (after he does his own hxg3). I'm just saying that f4 is a threat we really need to pay attention to.

...hxg3
Rc8! Kh7
Qh3! Kg6

doesn't look great.

Two moves look Interesting....

29.... Nc3 (with the threat of Ne2+ winning the rook)

and...

29... Qf5 (guards c8 and prepares a possible h3, jamming the King and Queen in). I am down at the National Chess Congress and will look at this position later with Timm (maybe over a couple of cold ones). He is currently in a game with GM Alex Stripunsky, in which he is worse, but possibly drawing. Curtains might be here as well.

I could use those cold ones right about now. I did manage to draw, but my game went the full six hours. And there was a time scramble at the end resulting in severe adrenaline jitters. I'm scrambling to get some food down since I have to play another game in a few minutes.

Just a quick glance, it might be possible to answer Qh3 with Rh6!?
Looks crazy but.... Bxh6, we can take at f2 with check before we recapture the bishop with our g pawn.
Oh I'm still sure it's losing some how right? But it seems crazy enough it should be worth looking at...

Hope you guys are having fun at the tourney...

I like 29...Nc3. 29...Qf5 doesn't seem to do enough, and he might just play 30.g4. Also there's no reason to allow Rc8+, our h-pawn isn't going anywhere so there's no rush.

I don't like Nc3. He just moves Rc2 and we block the possible Qa8 check if we need it and we can't gain tempo by moving Ne2 because the Rook is defending that square.

I like Rg6 a lot better, because once we do that his Queen is pinned to the King and he can't ever do fxg3 because we take the bishop (and the rook if it stays on c1) with check.
