[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] ALL, AP said somewhere that there were several cheating accounts that we had not discovered. They have also told some players that the accounts whose winnings were being refunded consisted of steamroller, greycat, and doubledrag(this is cash games I assume). Seems like they are no ignoring what they said. Anyone of you people with inside info know what these other accounts are? [/ QUOTE ] I was told something along the lines of "there were two more accounts that were not mentioned" that were also involved in cheating. I never heard the names specifically. [/ QUOTE ] silly details. |

One was called "Romnaldo" (or something similar) and I forget the other name off the top of my head, but someone could find it easily in one of the earlier threads. |

Uh . . . bump?
I think if Absolute is going to come clean, then they have a responsibility to state why they're not paying ripped-off players every cent they're down to the cheating accounts. If that means giving each player a detailed HH, then that's what they're going to have to do. |

So what's the deal then? Do we wait for their audit to finish in a week or two and then decide whether to start a campaign to take them down?

So what's the deal then? Do we wait for their audit to finish in a week or two and then decide whether to start a campaign to take them down? [/ QUOTE ] If you take them down, you might be screwing all the people who have remaining account balances with them. It's obvious that a majority of their customers will remain to the end. If you start hurting them financially and they start dipping into players account money to stay afloat, you end up actually hurting our fellow poker playing compatriots who will never get paid back what they are owed. Before you or anyone goes on a program of destruction, it might be wise to get confirmation that all account balances are segregated and safe, and cannot be dipped into by one of the many AP shell companies. How to get trustworthy info on that I'm not quite sure, given their track record of late. But seriously, players are owed many many millions so it's best not to get reckless and destroy what is left of AP. |

[/ QUOTE ] Romnaldo and Supercardm55 (I think) were the two clear dumping accounts. It does seem weird that someone in the company may have hinted there were two accounts never mentioned though when the chip dumping was one of the clear things protested from the beginning, and the names were known early on. One of the things Absolute should have done immediately was publicly identify the accounts abused, and clearly identify the amount refunded to each player. It's a bare minimum of accountability. ah... we are talking about Absolute Poker. my bad. |

I have not previously posted but have been following the AP stuff with great interest. Regarding the "oversight" that the Kahnawake Mohawks offer, and the hope that they might investigate this matter (or that the Quebec provincial police might have some authority over their activities), it is worth recalling that they were engaged in cigarette smuggling in the early 90s -- and are mentioned again in today's Globe and Mail (Toronto) as being involved in cigarette tax avoidance. An interesting story from the Hamilton Spectator of about a year ago has quite a lot to say about the quasi-legality of the Mohawk involvement in online gambling. It's posted on the following site.
www.smokersclubinc.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=224 1 Note in particular the passage that says: Elected band chief warns about the 'dark side' of 'big money and tobacco.' The federal government has awarded more than $1.5 million in contracts this year to a company on the Six Nations reserve that is associated with illegal online gambling. SixNet is a company listed as the operator of computer servers on the reserve that host gaming sites that include Absolute Poker, one of the world's most popular Internet gambling destinations. Based in Costa Rica, but operating on SixNet servers, Absolute Poker gets up to 6,000 players an hour at peak times for its real-money tournaments. Hosting such an online gaming operation on Canadian soil is an offence under the Criminal Code. And the issue of illegal use of servers on Six Nations land has caused an explosive split on the reserve. |
