just about all 6 tablin (except for 30 mins while i watched tha begining of tha carolina Gtech game untill carolina ran away with tha game) and i played 5 and a half hours. holla. i have been slackin a ton this week. only played like 8k hands this week so far which is completly unexceptable. prolly gonna make a shot at like 8 hours tomorow. but idk. it will depends on tha nfl games n [censored]

Background...I played poker a little in very late 05 and stopped playing not very long after that. I played SNGs on party and played terribly but ran hot. Cashed out...never thought much of it. Found 2p2 a little after that and mostly just did stupid [censored] like post in bbv. Never read or thought about poker much as i enjoy playing chess and have a full time job.

Skip ahead from then to the very end of 06. I was bored and considered playing poker again. Was in Hastings and bought Theory and Practice and was wowed by it. Read it and started playing again. Started with $200 on stars for .05/.1 . Did fairly well but didn't really understand anything (cbetting properly, aggressiveness, value betting and most importantly i didn't know [censored] about hand reading). But i read more and got on 2p2 and used it in the cleverly strategic manner it was intended. Read a ton of the posts in the sticky and posted a few hands here and there. Also i kept reading TAP.

Moved up from .05/.1 when i had made abotu 12 buyins thinking i was ready for the next level. Did well at FR 25NL. Then kept reading abotu how profitable 6max is. And i wanted to give it a shot.

Now at this time i still didn't understand simple concepts like value betting and still had a terrible time hand reading. But kept trying and would review a little in PT. Trying to review my sessions. And the MOST IMPORTANT thing i have done is learn to adjust to stack sizes and opponents.

But as i switched to 6max it screwed me up and i went back to not knowing [censored]. Tilted a lot (stacked off about 3-4 buy ins with 99 facing aggression from TAGs etc... one instance i payed off KK preflop with QJs. I'm very ashamed of that ridiculous move as the guy had a VPIP of 13.) But, alas i found Tien's post and started playing similar to that but with my own adjustments that i felt were better/neccessary after reading TAP (raising a little less, loosening up a little here and there, adjusting to loose passive games/opponents and understanding pot size/control).

anyway here's my graph so far. From december 31st until today. I don't play much and when i first switched to 6max i was trying to run too many tables and ended up getting frustrated and not playing properly. Now i just 2-3 table and play my regular game 22-23/16ish.

First 3k hands were all 10NL.

Next 2k hands (up to 5k on the graph) were all 25NL FR.

5k - 7k were all trying to play 6max and not knowing [censored] about what i was doing and still not understanding a few fundamentals and seriously underestimating position.

7k - 11k I read Tien's wonderful 6max post. And read a ton more here while browsing threads and making comments i thought fit into hand problems. Then i read more stickies and particularly pokey's writings were very helpful especially the one on hand reading.

So if you're reading this Pokey, thanks for that.

Mostly i'd like to thank everyone here. This post is probably brought on by the fact that i'm just running hot, but i think i have improved dramatically as a player in the last week and my biggest current problem is staying focused and not browsing 2p2 while playing etc.

I hope to move up by the middle of next week to 50NL and by the middle/end of Feb. move up to 100NL. I really enjoy poker and want to continue to improve my game.

So thanks to the guys who's posts i've read and those who have taken the time to write long posts that are very beneficial to the forums. I intend to try to do the same once i'm at a similar level and have gained some understanding of the game.

I know 10k hands isn't anything. But hey, i'm trying and that's all i can really ask of myself.

Am i on the right path? Is this an average level of increase for someone basically just starting?

i am a slacker. i didnt play n e where near enough. i wanna have 20k saved up to skwander on a car by may and at this pace i dont kno if imma make it. plus poker might not b around so i need to b playin more and takin advantage of this while i can [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]
