[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] rivera only threw 9 pitches in the 8th, and he rested yesterday. it sucks, but bruney/britton/villone are all available tomorrow. [/ QUOTE ] how many pitches he threw in the 8th... well lets see he only thew nine so he'll be fine to pitch tomorrow... but wait.... did u have a point? [/ QUOTE ] onlinebeginner is absolutely right about this. [/ QUOTE ] rivera had to come in a high leverage situation in the 8th. he got out of pretty easily. that means he SHOULD start the 9th. who the hell do you put in there? vizcaino for mop-up? he wasn't even warming up. it was still a 1-run game. no, i didn't mean that rivera would be available tomorrow. i meant it's probably better to have 3 fresh bullpen options tomorrow, rather than only 1 or 2 plus rivera who had pitched the day before. |

It's not everyday you see a manager intentionally walk someone in the 10th to face Jeter w/ the game on the line.

Sterling's analysis:
"Yanks will have won 5 straight and 8 of 10. The 8 of 10 is the important part. Anyone can reel off 5. But 8 of 10, that is something." WTF?! 10 back. |

Let's see... flipping 50/50 coins and getting 5 in a row is 1/32. Getting an exact sequence of 10 is 1/1024, but there are 10*9 combinations where you get 8 out of 10 wins, not to mention another 11 where you win 9 or 10, so it's about 1/10 to win 8 out of 10...
F it, when John Sterling presents you with numbers or hypothetical what-ifs, you do not question John Sterling, you listen to what John Sterling has to say and like it. |
