Hello ,

My name is Jeff, Support Supervisor at PokerStars... and I owe you two separate apologies.

First and foremost, I badly mistreated you throughout our Email exchange before Lee Jones received your son's Email. I've been re-reading my messages to you now for the past couple days, and I'm appalled at the things I said to you. I really have no excuse for my demeanor and the arrogance in my writings. That's so unlike me, and I regret that you fell victim to my lapse in judgment. I am truly sorry for the way I treated you.

A second apology is owed for my finding. Upon further review of your records, you are clearly not using a bot. Even I am convinced beyond any doubt of that now. I mis-read certain aspects of the evidence, notably regarding the 43 hour session of play -- I was looking for "sleep" breaks of 6 hours or more, rather than for non-stop play. I was also latching onto similarities between your playing behaviour and that of a particularly clear bot case of past (one in which the bot "plead guilty"). I failed to take into account some other, mitigating evidence as well. I made a less-than-thorough job of it. I expect a great deal better from myself, as does PokerStars. I apologize for the mishandling of the case.

I hope you will accept these apologies. Please rest assured that this case will weigh on my mind each and every time I undertake this sort of review in the future. I have learned a great deal from this experience, and I will not forget for one day how badly I botched this case, nor how badly I treated you.

Most Sincerely,

Jeff
PokerStars Support Supervisor

Stars definitely needs to make a statement about how this is going to be prevented in the future. At the very least Jeff obviously needs some type of supervision or some peers to consult with in these matters. The fact that he was so completely sure about himself and was so completely wrong is very disturbing. I think termination or demotion would be a good thing for Stars management to look at.

Jeff does not deserve to be fired, give the guy a break. If this turns out to be more than an isolated incident then I agree with you though.

I do think their should be more than one person that makes such drastic decisions though. They need to add some checks and balances to make sure this doesn't happen again.

The fact that Jeff speaks fluent English makes him better than every single Party support person.

my name is jeff, top dawg at Stars....and ive been forced by my boss to apologise to u....after all, he has to save face over 2p2 way.

i was a tit to u but then ur 2p2 son sent an email to my boss and my boss subsequently tore me to shreds for writing to u the way i did.

ive re-read my emails and im truly sorry that ur son is involved in a poker forum that carries so much weight round here.

i got no excuse for my tone and attitude but thats what develops when im the number one guy and everyone believes me....on everything.

it really is so unlike me - normally im 10 times more arrogant.

again, i am really sorry that ur son is from 2p2 and that my boss made me write this grovelling apology to u but my hand was forced.....i mean where else would my arrogance be tolerated?

I agree entirely.

1) The magnitude of these two threads clearly indicate that this event's importance is at senior management level (Lee at least).

2) For management not to respond implies that management aren't too concerned about the issue (which has several unpleasant implications, not the least of which is that Jeff will be less well supervised than he should be).

3) I somehow doubt that Jeff wrote that letter (or all of it). In my experience arrogant so-and-so's do not apologise like that. Most of the largest paragraph sounds like him (full of self-justifications, "even I...", etc), but the other paragraphs definitely do not. Which leaves me with a dissatisfied feeling.

4) There is ABSOLUTELY no assurance from Stars that this won't happen again, or if it does, how we can appeal it (other than, obviously, starting another mega-thread here). Jeff will revert to his true character in due course, and we'll all remain at risk from his incompetence.

5) Stars has offended Teddy's mum, and has apologised to her. Stars have also offended all of us who have placed our trust in them. They have NOT yet earned our trust back.

I for one, will certainly not forget this incident. If I have future troubles with Stars, and if Jeff is involved, I will be extremely unhappy to be dealing with him/them.

What else do you want from him? Are we going to give him [censored] because he apologized?

Yes, he was a jerk, and yes, he was wrong, but why pile it on?
