some friends and i had an xbox, madden 07, and a handle of five star whiskey. whenever you got a touchdown scored on you, you had to take a shot. in my three games, i lost by like a combined score of 66 - 103. apparently after that i played 5 games of beer pong with my shirt off and proceeded to throw up all over the bathroom and passout on a pile of clean laundry in my buddy's room, losing my pants in the process.

I believe this to be an acceptable Jack Daniel's alternative at roughly half the price. Particularly since Jack lowered the proof from 88 to 80 a few years ago and seems to be raising the price as well. A friend turned me onto it some time ago and I pick some up from time to time. I don't know if it's cheaper because of quality or lack of name brand recognition, with mixer it doesn't taste too different.

Evan Williams is in no way an alternate unless you're already mixing it with something that overpowers, like Coke. Drinking both on rocks or with water back will make the difference clear.

Your hate is out of place IMO. If you read the thread, which maybe you did and forgot, I don't drink whiskey straight. So while I'm sure there are discernible differences in taste on the rocks, there is much less of a difference in taste with a mixer. That's to say, I could easily pass the Pepsi Challenge as to which is which, but if I was on a tight budget I'd have no problem going with Evan Williams.

Also, regarding the 86/88 thing, meh. So I screwed up the exact number. Hell, I didn't even know what it was until they announced the change. I am aware of the controversy and still dream of the old 86 proof handle and it's rounded, classy design.

EDIT: by the way, accusing me of having "novice booze skills" is like accusing Ron Jeremy of having "novice porn skills".
