Mid afternoon, playing 18 holes and things are flying along with no one in front of you and then getting to the 10th hole, getting backed up by all the twilight rate 9 holers allowed to go off the back.

[/ QUOTE ] Ugh. Same goes for when they put groups off the front and back in the morning, then when you come off one side, there's still 4 groups in line to tee off on the other, and you have to wait for all of them because the starter "didn't expect you to be done yet." |

Everyone wants to play golf in the morning so courses split the tees to accommodate more people. |

Cuz that's what it's like in the example I can remember. I definitely understand what you mean, and I know sending people off both sides is common. IIRC that time we were the only people he told to go off the back, however, and we were a twosome in a cart and finished in 1:30. We didn't ask to go off the back--he told us. Starter should have expected us back in less than two and a half, or should have at least let us cut the line to tee off the front. Wow, it's amazing how "Biggest Golf Pet Peeve" has turned into a huge thread of "bitch about everything that's ever pissed you off on a golf course before." |

...watching a 15 year old kid stand on the tee trying to bounce a ball off his driver over and over again and then hit it like in the Tiger commercial which he never did...while we are waiting for them to go...then hitting 2 into the woods off the actual tee...
...it appeared he was with his grandfather too, who was allowing it..[censored] retards |

This one stems from todays round. Played at a course that I've never played before and there were about six or seven holes in which apparantly I wasn't able to hit driver and I wasn't aware. When hitting a basically blind tee shot, it would be nice to know that the landing area is only 230 yards away. This included two 590 yards par fives in which a drive anywhere from 240 yards to 300 yars would end up right in the middle of a lake, wtf, am I supposed to hit a four iron off the tee on a 600 yard par five? I honestly would have scored about ten strokes better playing from the tips just because a 280 yard drive would have been perfect instead of in the middle of a lake or the woods.

Played a top-tier course the other day the first time, and I wish the stupid sky-caddie GPS crap told you when the landing area you THINK is 320 away actually plays like 240 because there's a huge blind drop...AND that the last 70 yards before the creek is unplayable heather!

One of my biggest pet peeve's is when someone picks up my ball. Even if they don't take it or hit it thinking it is theirs just the fact that they pick it up or touch it at all just sets me off and ruins me for a couple holes.
Example: 2 parallel fairways. I hit off to the side. On the adjecent fairway someone hits to the same place. While looking for their ball they find mine, pick it up to see if it is theirs, and then put it back down. Just bend the frick down and look to see if it is your crappy Noodle or my Pro-V or whatever. Also, I was playing with a couple friends a month or so ago. An old guy was paired with is and one of my friends offered to let him ride on the cart as my other friend and I walked. About the 8th hole or so the old dude bent over to pick his ball out of the cup and I happened to see a suspicious stain on the back of his pants. Apparently he had messed his pants along the way. We looked at the seat of the cart and there were some nice brown streaks on it. The the thing that really pissed me off about that guy: On the 14th hole, a par 3 with an elevated tee and a great view of the green my friend and I both hit on to the front of the green and the old dude pushed his shot short and right. Our other friend had gone into some weeds on the left so we helped him look. When we turned back to the green I see the old guy placing my ball and my other friends ball back on the putting surface and they were nowhere near where they originally were. No idea why he had to pick up both of them especially since his ball was nowhere near the green. This pissed me off for the rest of the round. |
