First, starting threads about how his own awesomeness is not Barry's MO.

Second, even if it actually happened, aside from the $3 mil, the entire thing sounds pretty lame to me.

he said it was on shabbos (i have never gone to the shul in question) but im guessing that means its a lot more then 10 people.

Anyone can lead prayers as long as you know how, you dont have to be a rabbi to do this. This could be taught in a week easy (if you know basic hebrew), there are some variations even from shul to shul that would help knowing.

IF he had to read the parsha (a section of torah read) thats a lot harder because there are no accent marks, though depending on the parsha it may be easier or harder.

Making a speech is a joke and there are always guest speakers.

I dont get how he convinced everyone that he is a Rabbi unless he personally told everyone?

Baggryg's account have been hacked for sure.

He would never write "please discuss" in a post like this. I thought it was very obvious from the start.

Even though Barry is an athiest I would think he'd respect other peoples feelings enough not to mock them for his prop bet.

I assume all of these things since I've never met Barry but that's the feeling I get from what I've seen.

I haven't been to synagogue in years and I could probably lead a reform service if I had a month to prepare. When you practice the same prayers constantly as a child, they tend to come back to you pretty quickly. Great bet though, if true.

If the real Barry Greenstein said he could do it, I would not bet against him. However, if you announce you made a 3 mil winning, the IRS will want to dip its beak. As someone said, this could be a prop bet about a prop bet. People who annouce big winnings for publicity might have to pay Uncle Sam or do some tall explaining.

At first I was going to say, lol posingasarabbiaments, but then the nit in me awoke and I got to thinking that your prop bet may be mocking the congregation's faith.

[/ QUOTE ]

I thought that was the funny part.
