Ha cool thread.
Stuff like this happens to me all the time. I always find it weird b/c I've got a better memory than the average bear. I'd say number 1 is standard b/c most of the time people are thinking something to the extent of "Ok make eye contact, shake his/her hand," while also thinking about what they'll say next to initiate conversation. So given that ppl are so concerned w/ their own gestures, they forget to pay attention to what the other person is saying at that moment. In short, I can understand this one. No. 2 happens to me often when something influential happened recently (have lots of work, made lots of money, lost lots of money, looking forward to something great, etc). No 3 happens a good amount and I'm surprised it happens to other ppl. I think it's so pathetic. I guess it's a sign that whatever show I was watching isn't that interesting and I should prolly go outside n play bball er something. |

A lot of times at work when I need something from the supply room I'll forget what it was that I needed when I get there.

I just started a new job yesterday. Girl A opens the door, tells me her name, then brings me around to meet the lawyers, there are like 6 of them. Then the other assistants, etc. I remember no names, not even hers.
This was fairly embarassing. The rest of the day was her telling me various things all ending with, and bring these memos to Y and these lease agreements to Z. After each time I have to ask her who she is talking about, where their office is, even though she took me on a tour of the small office like an hour before. When I cook things, it starts when I turn the oven on and ends when my girlfriend yells something like "ummm is your food done cooking yet?" or "hellooooo, smoke!" Sometimes I go to get out of the shower and then remember I still have shampoo in my hair, or hadn't yet done it. I only remember first names if they are unique and even then sometimes I just stare at the person and think "I know you have a unique name, so I'm not even going to venture a guess." Sometimes I'll be reading a book or a case in on my casebooks for school, I'll accidentally close the book and cant even remember if I was reading on page 40 or 400, or what I was reading about. Everytime I go outside to drive somewhere, it takes about a full minute to figure out where I parked. In addition, memorizing the street cleaning schedule to avoid tickets/towing has proven impossible. |

here's one that happens to me maybe twice a month:
I pay for something at the store, and then I walk away, leaving the item at the counter. WEIRD! |

1) Quite often. I don't immediately forget, but usually in 2 hours or something I can't recall it. 2) All the fing time. This is very annoying. 3) Never. I only watch a handful of channels, and just rotate through them with the favorites button. [/ QUOTE ] |

All, Here's a somewhat related #4. 4) You hear a song on the radio in your car or in a movie or at a bar. You think, I definitely need to get that song, I'll look that up or buy it when I get home. A few weeks later when you hear the song somewhere else, you remember you meant to get it. [/ QUOTE ] That happens to me constantly. Songs on the radio, books reviewed in magazines. So I started to jot memos to myself in my PDA. So now I forget that I have a memo in my PDA with a few songs & books that I want to buy. |

I go to the store for a particular item, pick it up, and then start browsing. Somewhere along the way, I forget that it's in my hand (once or twice it's even ended up in my pocket) and head for the door. I almost always catch myself, but one time I was out the door and halfway to my car when I realized I hadn't paid for the pair of shoelaces in my pocket. |
