[ QUOTE ]
most underrated player in the NBA over the last 20 years is Kobe Bryant. [/ QUOTE ] he may go down as best player to never win an mvp. |

It kills me to say this, but if we're only counting accomplishments after 1987, it's KJ. Mark Price is probably my second choice. At their peaks in the early 90s, they were borderline top 10 player in the NBA.

Why can't a player be considered underrated if he's going to all star games and the like? Underrated means you are better than most give credit for, regardless of what level that is.
If Michael Jordan was considered by most to be a top 10 caliber guard instead of the best player evarrr, wouldn't he be the most underrated player? Anyway based on that criteria, I think it's hard to argue with Kevin Johnson. Injuries played a small part, but like others have said, he might have been the best point guard in the NBA when he was on the court.. My honorable mentions would go to Kobe, Price, and possibly even Duncan, although I think Duncan's lack of love mainly comes from those who are only casual basketball fans. |

Duncan? You mean the 2 time MVP? The 3 time Finals MVP? The speculated best PF ever? Yeah totally underrated.
I really like the Price pick. Hell, that whole Cavs team. Poor guys. They were loaded. |

Marc Jackson deserves a mention. 2nd all time in assists but somehow made only one all star game. Watching him post up and back down the opposing PG never got old.

I think the point I'm trying to make is that even with all those accolades, you'd be hard pressed to find most fans sticking him in their top 5 players at any point in his career, with the exception of a couple of those years. And I think he's in the top three over the last 20... Perhaps I'm overrating?? |
