I don't know, but I'm not sure anyone can deny that (at the very least) Gold played his big stack well. Yes he hit hands and yes the field basically laid down and played dead, but I was just making the point he isn't the worst player to win the WSOP (since his name was specifically mentioned). I do think that Gold probably would lose his ass in a lot of cash games against decent players, but this wasn't a cash game, and if you can get a stack and know how to use it that at least has to count for something?

I guess just because he's the most recent to win it, but shouldn't Varkoni and Moneymaker get just as much flack? I can't remember the events exactly, but I seem to recall MM and Varkoni getting a lot more lucky in crucial spots than Jamie did. I can understand that people hate Gold because of his attitude, but jeeze, at least give the guy SOME credit.

That deprives you of the right to call people who play poker and win big events "frauds"--because it's all part of the game. It's also ridiculous to try to assert that Varkonyi is more of a "fruad" than Gold--any amateur who wins a poker tournament got lucky, did some things right, some things wrong, and played poker. Someone else said Jamie Gold was an idiot, I countered with calling Varkoni a bigger fraud than Jamie. I see no difference between calling Jamie an idiot and calling Varkoni a fraud.
