I don't get all the hate for gold. Its like everyone had a predetermined opinion of him before the show. I thought he played pretty well all things considered.

[/ QUOTE ]

Well ppl's expectation of the WSOP champion is very high, but the reality is just because Gold is the world champion doesn't mean he can hang with you guys in a high stakes cash game.

I don't think many peoples expecations of the past few WSP champs is very high at all. I agree that Gold is an underdog in high stakes cash games, but I think he knew this and sat for other reasons. I dont' think he claims to be the best player in the world.

I think he claims to be better than he is though. I need to see more before I become convinced that he can win through solid poker playing instead of with tricks that only work against amateurs. To me he's like the guy at the casino that can crush 1/2 because he uses tricks (mostly allowed tricks) against the tourists but if he ever faced a table of regulars who see through that crap, he's vastly overmatched.

I didn't like Jamie Gold during the WSOP but I didn't find him annoying or a out of line during this episode. I think he's a nice guy.

The hate is simple jealousy. A majority of people on this board have no hope of ever seeing any amount of success and they can't stand to see someone without a poker pedigree succeed. Most of these schmucks grind away online or at a live table and live a Walter Mitty existance alternating between disappointment and fantasy. They don't think it is fair that Jamie Gold won because if another 'regular' guy won, it should have been them.

I give Jamie guy props for stepping up to play the big boys. Sure he gives off tells. Negreanu gives off tells. But, he shouldn't just sit there like a shrinking violet and kiss the feet of more accomplished players. He is trying to step up and shouldn't be faulted for trying different things to plant seeds in the other players heads about his intentions.

Gold-Considering who he was sitting with at the table it's hard to bash him.

Matusow-Some times he can be the best player at the table and other times the exact opposite. IF he ever gets control of his game he would be a real force all the time.

Chen-Short run but he played pretty well. The players seem to like him okay.

Harmon-Never even saw her play a single hand.

Others:
Farha-Dude takes way too long on all hands and ruins the flow. I guess if you play every hand you will eventually get lucky and win some hands.

I'm not jealous of Jamie Gold, Chris Moneymaker or Robert Varkonyi. Yet I only dislike Jamie Gold. Please explain.
