I've noticed two writers already who have said something to the effect of: "hopefully Andre Miller doesn't do well enough to pull them out of the Oden race." WTF?!?! They were headed there WITH Iverson.

so if a team has depth problems why dont they just move a starter to the bench?

another scenario: say a team lacks frontcourt depth and gains another guard, thereby putting a starting guard ont he bench. well, they didnt really solve any depth problems.

lastly, how can a team give up 2 players for one and gain depth?

Although I don't think it's applicable in this case, if you trade two players who aren't getting any minutes for a rotation player you gain depth.

Oh....I think there was a misunderstanding here.

With them trading Miller and Smith, their depth will suffer, but by being able to move JR to the bench, it should help some with that depth issue.

FWIW, I think they probably now have less depth overall then they did before the trade, especially at the PG spot.
