Perhaps, but did you see the hit Ray-Ray put on Cowan? Chad Henne probably pissed himself when he saw that replay.

I was reading a preview of this Mich-USC matchup at Sportsline earlier and it said that Mich will have plenty of motivation to play despite their snub in the Fiesta bowl because Mich. can still win the AP National Championship. I didn't think this was possible. So what is the best case scenario for that? Mich. routs USC and FL edges OSU in a sloppy game? Longshot for sure.

Another thing I have been thinking about, as a Michigan fan I always root for the Big Ten during bowl games. However this year im not so sure im going to cheer for OSU. During this past month they have really rubbed me the wrong way. OSU coaches and players have made it pretty clear that they don't think Mich. deserves a rematch without actually saying those exact words. Also the state of Ohio almost unamiously voted Florida the number 2 team in those ESPN 'who do you think is #2' polls they always have setup. Not that it even matters at all, but im just seeing alot of disrespect from our so called Big Ten brethren. Therefore i'll be pulling for Flordia.

that is absolutely obvious. but the slick campaigning by the coaches and players has bothered me. i heard some interviews in which tressel says you should have to win your conference first in order to play for the nat. championship. i think it would be much more classy for him to restraint from such comments during sensitive times, ala lloyd carr. anyways, i still wish for osu to lose a close ugly game.

Isn't the college rule pretty vague with regard to helmet to helmet hits anyway? If it were like the NFL and it were automatic, ok, fine. You'll have some sort of iffy calls but at least it isn't arbitrarily called.

You could make a distinction that Smith didn't have the ball and Cowan did, but that's dumb when you realize you can hit a guy just after he releases, and I'm not sure why you can hit him but not in the same way as if he had the ball. I mean, if the point is that you get close and can't stop or whatever, it's retarded to have a different standard.
