[ QUOTE ] That's weird. Around here you could feed four people with two entrees, a soup, and maybe an order of Korean pancake (pah-juhn). The bill would be around $50. [/ QUOTE ] Hm - you know, for the food itself, that's prolly about what I pay in LA. Before tax, going with cheaper prices, let's say you get a chigae ($8), 2 orders of bulgogi (it's a cheaper dish to begin with, so let's say $13 per order), pajun ($10) so total ~$50 with tax. (I don't see how much cheaper it can get, even in Seattle.) But 1) that's enough food for 4 people? not for my friends and 2) you don't drink while you eat Korean BBQ zomg! KKF:
Over charging - for Koreans, not really from what I've seen. I think the Chinese are more liable to do this haha. The advantage in being the minority is knowing what to ask for, and getting dishes off-menu. Price breaks - I get them cause I speak some Korean and go to the same places all the time. If I weren't Korean I doubt I'd get the price break. -Al |

I can't enjoy booze when I'm eating and I can't enjoy food when I'm boozing. So I keep them separate. That's usually enough for 4 people. It depends on the company though. |

Korean food rocks. I work near W.32nd St. in New York City, which is our "Korea town." The restaurants are amazing and I'm addicted to them. Anyone in NYC should have lunch at Woorijip on W.32nd St. between 5th & Broadway. They serve authentic Korean food at very reasonable prices. The clientele is about 95% Korean and they do a big takeout business too.

Oddjob - haha really? You know I read some Korean too... so now that I think about it, alot of places will give you the bill with your orders written in Korean - an easy place to overcharge haha. I'm ok with white people getting overcharged.
Dude I am far from "honkinese". Unless you mean I'm a twinkie, in which case, you are not that far off -Al |

"only honkeys order only bbq when they go to bbq, and if you need the other dishes to draw in the koreans."
Forget the Koreans. If I get my parents to open one of these in Miami there are going to be about 10 Koreans coming in all year. I dont even think the honkies give a crap about 'banchan'. You could probably just serve them meat, and a bucket of mashed potatoes. LOL. You would probably also be better off not mentioning Korean and just calling it "BBQ in the middle of the table Restaurant invented by Abraham Lincoln" |
