1. Benign Bone Tumor that secretes a toxin that causes muscle pain. Took one year to diagnose. woke up nearly every day for 6 months at 4 in the morning with my arm hurting so much that I couldn't move it because it was too painful. I stumbled to the shower took a hto shower and drugs and went back to sleep.

[ QUOTE ] root canals [/ QUOTE ] I just had one of these done. 2 modest needles followed by 2 smaller needles, and then 30 min later and I was done. Didnt hurt any more than a filling. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, its weird...I'd heard horror stories about root canals for years, and when I finally needed one a couple of years back I was dreading it. And even despite the fact that my nerve canals were a mess, and my regular dentist had to give up and send me to an endodontist, it was one of the least traumatic dental experiences I've had...I actually dozed off for a while during the procedure. |

a stomach infection has probably been the worst for me. I had to keep drinking water to keep myself from getting dangerously dehydrated, but everytime I drank water it sent sharp pains all throughout my stomach. This went on for 2 or 3 days. I think I got the bacteria infection from when I was volunteering to plant some trees for some foundation, [censored] volunteering.

For me, it was a peritonsullar abcess. Picture a golfball sized lump on your right tonsil, that ypu can clearly see in the mirro because it pushes your uvula over to the left side. I couldn't move my neck or head, couldn't eat, could barely drink anything because swallowing was insanely painful.
To swallow I had to prep myself, and then kick as hard as a could with my right foot to help me swallo. Don't ask me how it worked but it did. When I went to the hospital finally, they couldn't numb my mouth to drain it, so the doctor stuck a syringe down my throat to drain the pus out of the abcess, while two nurse dudes held me down because the gag reflex was making the doctor miss the abcess and stick the back of my throat. And I couldn't smoke for the whole time I had it. Sucked major balls. |

Being catheterized and coming down with a bladder/UTI infection. I had a bag full of blood and felt like a victim of some twisted Nazi medical experiment. To make matters worse, I had the catheter in for 5 months so my penis was very sensitive.
Honorable mention: uvulaplasty with tonsillectomy and biopsy. The doctor warned me it would be extremely painful (and quite dangerous) and I would hate her afterwards for not getting much pain relief. Basically, they removed that little thing that hangs down in the back of your throat (uvula), the tonsils, and re-sculpted my throat/mouth as well doing a biopsy for mouth cancer. I felt like I had strep throat x ten for several weeks and to boot I only got 1 tylenol 3 every six hours. Thankfully, the nurses intervened cause I looked so miserable and I got two doses every six hours (in liquid form because I couldn't swallow solids). Apparently painkillers interfered with the gauge reflex so it was a necessary measure. At least I no longer snore! JeffreyREBT |

Maybe they do them differently these days, or novocaine actually works on some people. |

Maybe I should go get another one to see if it feels better! |

it didn't happen to me, but my brother used to get such bad random nosebleeds that they had to cauterize the inside of his nose twice. one of the times they burned too far, and the hole in his nose makes a whistling noise when he breathes through it
