I think this is perfect. Today there is so much traffic in SSNL that lots of interesting posts dies, because they soon disapear. [/ QUOTE ] yeah. I was just getting annoyed after posting a hand, bumping it twice and having it disappear from the front page in 2 minutes. (or maybe it was just dull.) Slow that traffic down. |

to split or not to split - that is the queston...
I think a split is inevitable this is such a high traffic forum, and those divisions look about as good as any. I am still playing "micros" so I will be hanging around in the new forum anyway but SSNL is getting too big and I think that a split is a good thing. If anything I'd split it further and add a further SSNL6m forum - certainly for SSNL and for other stakes if required as well, similar to the way the LIMIT forums are split. I'd like to see a NL Headsup forum while we're adding new ones as well. I think there is enough traffic for several new forums and most people who start to play online these days tend to play No Limit because thats what they saw on tv so I think that the SSNL as we have now is only going to get busier and busier in the future. |

If the above proposal is carried through is there any chance of say a dedicated thread in SSNL where Micro Posts judged by the mods as being worthy of deeper discussion could be posted for consideration by more experienced players?
In any case some sort of split seems inevitable from a traffic standpoint. Hopefully the loss of experience in the Micro forum resulting from a Micro/SSNL split would be at least partially mitigated by individual threads staying around long enough to be discussed. |

Here's a suggestion that I think could help the "the micro guys will just get bad advice" argument: How about a group of poob's get together and write the FAQ for the Micro, AND More importantly write a basice strategy sticky. I know all things are situational!!!!!!!! But, what we're saying here is the lower you go the less situational it is. Things that could be included; Preflop charts- FR & 6Max, Ive got a draw-where do I go from here?, Should I standardize my bets/raises or mix it up?(bet sizing), A little on pot control(especially with TPTK), etc . . . One more thing- How about a once a week "SSNL Guy in the well", limited to poker questions only? Any thought on this? Ret [/ QUOTE ] this would be my preferred approach and any mod in the micro forum is going to want to standardize his answers very quickly. |

My range right now is 25NL through 100NL, with 95% at 50NL 5MAX. I expect to be at 50NL through January or so.
I guess I don't mind the proposed division, I find it hard to comment meaningfully on 200NL+ anyway. I don't really mind working on the superbasic stuff with the micro players. I will miss some of the posts by the better SSNL posters, but I suspect most of them were going to move up and out way faster than me anyway, given that I'm only playing one or two tables recreationally for a few hours a day at most. |

I think it's a bad idea. SSNL is all about learning the basics of NL and hand reading, rather than the absolute levels of the blinds. Maybe the range we put villains on changes somewhat as we move up the levels, but also it does depending on whether villain is solid, wild, a fish etc., so whilst the analysis might change a bit, the nature of the questions and thought processes within the SSNL forum are similar across the majority of the questions- what does he have, how do i best play against that? Contrast that with MSNL where this is more of a given, and the analysis seems to be more about when and where to make moves, good times for bluffing etc. I don't see that a split in SSNL would really give rise to 2 forums with different content, so I don't see the need. The split is probably in the best interest of everyone. Us 25NL's will lose out on some great advice, but thats something we will have to deal with.

Split the forums. I think it is a great idea so people looking for specific advice can seek it.
