Duke has a track record that 95% of the people on this board would be proud of. The problems with her are that she is irritating and she promotes herself as the most successful female tournament player of all time. Which is true when you look at cash earnings however -- she won a WSOP ToC which was a SnG (reportedly chopped but I won't go there) which pushed her over Jen Harman as the most successful.
The feminist in Annie hates having women singled out yet she is the first to point out her achievements as they relate to other women. That is why many have a clouded view of her true accomplishments and thus claim she is over rated. The truly over rated are the Evelyn Ng's of the world. Those who have accomplished little, if anything, and get mileage because of their looks and/or personality. Robert Williamson III is one I lump in with this group. His last win was a table on Poker Royale, Comedians vs. Pros. Before that it was a $200 Omaha tournament at the Orleans. Seems like a nice enough guy, but definitely over rated. |

Surprised nobody mentioned Hellmuth. Hellmuth overrates himself. He might be the second greatest No Limit Hold 'Em Tournament player ever after Stu Ungar, and in that specific sense he isn't overrated, but in any other category he is.
Before I read Professor/Banker/Suicide King I thought Lederer was, but seems like he just wasn't playing tournaments until about the time the WPT rolled around. He should be coming back to full time play soon and i'd like to see him pick up another couple braclets and some other tournaments to cement his legacy. Ever noticed that none of Ivey's braclets are in No-Limit? Isn't that an interesting fact? Read an interview recently where he said he wasn't really into a lot of the tournaments he was playing in the past. He actually said he'd dump his chips off to go play in the juicy sidegames. Said he's now committed himself to going all the way, playing 100% to win or not playing. Should be interesting. God after what he did to Andy Beal this year, people should just write him a check and save their time. Annie is still overrated, but I think she's capable of proving herself. Have to wait and see. Jennifer is way out of her league btw. Right now everyone is drinking the Allen Cunningham cool-aid, gotta see where that goes. People are starting to put him just behind Ivey, I never really noticed the guy before this year's WSOP, like to see him prove himself a bit more before I get on the bandwagon. Oh, and for the thread, Amarilo Slim is/was/and forever shall be the most overrated poker player ever. lol. |

I had forgotten all about ivy when i made my initial post, howcver, i have seen him get a little steamed at time also, whereas i have not seen Forrest get steamed regardless of what happens. I would also put ivy in the overated players, even though he is a great player becasue he is made out to be a god from olympus. he is tops, maybe even best, but they have made more out of him than is justified. thus he is great and maybe the best, but is overated, nonetheless. [/ QUOTE ] Thank you!!! I have made that comment about Michael Jordan being overrated for the last 10 years, and all I got were insults. You are helping me believe that some people can, in fact, be logical to the definition of overrated. |

Why is Jeniffer Tilly #1? I don't think anyone has rated her in the first place, everybody knows why is she famous and gets on TV on poker related shows. She's hot, (was) a famous actress and that's that. I think the biggest compliment that she has ever gotten was that she is a competent player, and I do agree with that. So she's not overrated at all, and you can't blame her for wanting as much TV coverage as possible. [/ QUOTE ] Tilly's tournament results have shown she is a decent player (for a rookie) and keeps getting better. |
