Live versions that own the studio version

There's one specific version of Zeps Dazed and Confused thats like 20 minutes long that is just sick and blows away the studio track, I dont know which exact one it is though.

Bob Dylan - Shelter from the Storm

On Blood on the Tracks it sounds like a nice acoustic song.
On Hard Rain is sounds like the Apocolypse and Hell rose up with a guitar for a quick version.

I generally despise live recordings, but a few of the songs on Billy Idol's acoustic album are money. Specifically "White Wedding" and "Cradle of Love."

As a looooooooong time Deadhead, I (obviously) agree, but there are a few exceptions. I think the studio version of "Friend of the Devil" is better than any of the several hundred live versions I've heard.

The live version of this song from the Family Values Tour is just soooooo good, and I am a pretty far cry from a Staind fan.

I'm almost afraid to admit this, but as much as I love(d) seeing Phish live, I almost invariably prefer their studio material - complete opposite of the Dead.

There's also a pretty killer live version of Cemetary Gates they started playing on the radio when DD died. I'm not sure what it's from, but I definitely like it better than the original.

wow... really good call on that one.

I'd like to add Seal to the list, his live acoustic CD is the best thing he ever released. It was an industry-only bootleg, but 10 years later they finally released it as part of his greatest hits collection.
