Hey Stuey, thanks for the avatar lessons in this thread. I'm a huge Anaheim Ducks fan and I've been working on some avatars for hockey board I'm on. Unfortunately the site has a retarded 20K limit so I can't do much of anything with animations, but I thought I'd show off what I've made. Most of the animated gif's are too big to use on the site except the last one of Jerome Iginla getting a whooping. The Getzlaf one is pretty damn sick and I wish I could use it...

With a 20K limit I bet this is one of the best avatars on that site. Very good job getting the file size down and keeping the action interesting.

Thanks for the tutorials, I've always wanted to do this, but I'm completely inexperienced with all the programs. I started with making one from u tube, as that seemed like the most valuable one to learn first.

I have two questions, i've been working on this for a few hours, D/Ld all the programs, and got started.

First, for future reference, when I imported the file made in WMM to ImageReady, the file was stretched out wide. I was able to correct it through sheer luck in the resizing step, but I had to just guess where the width should be set at. Is that How i'm supposed to do it, or did I screw something else up that caused the problem in the first place?

Second, I'm stumped at the point where i'm supposed to convert the .psd to a .gif. The help file says you go to File>saveas> and choose .gif from the drop down menu, but my only option is .psd.

I skipped two steps, so maybe somehow that's the cause. the first step I skipped was adjusting brightness and contrast for each frame. I just figured that sounded tedious and wanted to get through a project once before learning to do that. was it neccessary?

the Second step I skipped was adjusting the resolution. I looked for where to do this, and couldn't find it. The help file claimed it would be in the resize image window, but it was not.

any idea how i'm screwing up?

thanks for the tutorials Stuey, and thanks in advance to anyone who helps.
