Phil is a tool. A few quotes: "Some guys are so bad, it's not even Texas Hold 'em," Hellmuth said. "I think I'm the best hold 'em player in history." It's hard to argue that. Hellmuth won his record-tying 10th WSOP bracelet earlier this month in a preliminary event against a field of 1,690 players. He holds the record for cashing at the WSOP (54 times) and has finished in the top 10 in 36 WSOP tournaments. ... I feel like I'm at the top of my game," Hellmuth said. "When I come into one of these tournaments, I'm not even looking for average luck. I'm looking for a little below-average luck. Today, it was just horrendous luck." |

[ QUOTE ]
I think its funny how many people hate PH because they are jealous of his titles. [/ QUOTE ]\ I think it's funny how many people are so oblivious in their masturbatory fanboydom of Hellmuth that they think this is the reason people hate him, not his obnoxious, bratty behavior at the table; his massive ego regarding his own skill; his propensity to strut around the tournament arena like a prima donna whether or not he's even in the event, etc. etc. etc. |

After watching CPS, I've got to think that the PH haters are just that: haters.
The guy takes ABUSE from Dave Foley (who has called him "Phil 2" and "Chip Monkey" at various times) and doesn't seem to have an attitude about it. From what I understand, he also gets ribbed regularly by his fellow pros (on HSP, for example) and deals with it just fine. I'm convinced his act is an act, because he's entirely capable of dropping it at times. And I'm no fanboy: as far as players I follow, PH probably falls somewhere in the middle of the pack, behind Jesus or Negreanu and ahead of Deeb or Gus Hansen. I just think the hatred is ridiculous on a number of levels. |

thats because the pros rib at him for being obnoxious, which he knows is true. He knows he exaggerates, he knows he is an ass, so he doesn't get pissed off.
What sets him off is when he gets sucked out on by amateurs that he considers worthless. If it's a pro, he knows they're good so he can't go on a tirade. |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Wait until Hellmuth is 75 or whatever Brunson is and people will love him too. [/ QUOTE ] Like they love Amarillo Slim. [/ QUOTE ]ridiculous analogy [/ QUOTE ] Why? Amarillo Slim is old, but still has a bad reputation; in fact his reputation has gotten worse in his old age due to angle shooting and child molestation. No reason to think Helmuth will be respected like Brunson. [/ QUOTE ] Woah! Woah! Woah! What's this about angle shooting? |
