[/ QUOTE ] wow that's stupid, why doesn't he actually buy a place to live if he makes that much? also creates a higher risk of ruin. [/ QUOTE ] In an interview he said it was about $50,000 per month for everything including meals tips etc. I guess it's convienent [/ QUOTE ] What? No its not. It's not even the 40k figure quoted earlier. Listen to his interview on Rounders. He says that with food and tipping and everything, its probably about 25k. |

I, too really like Gabe. Used to play at his house in LA a million years ago. Some big games. IMHO Gabe DOES know the game considerably (as well as he knows many of the Pros) and I think he makes the show a much better show and I agree with the poster above that he has good insight. I also wish we could hear more of the player dialogue but guess it's tough to do and keep the viewers informed (which I feel IS important to not so good players) Other than possibly Howard L. I have really grown to like Gabe announcing. He's a good guy and _loves_ poker. I think Howard is very good but not so funny. Watched a circuit event tonight and would much rather listen to Gabe than Lon and the now old wife etc jokes altho I do respect their job. Only real complaint is that HSP isn't a longer show...2 hours would be just fine with me. |

Thank you 'bigmo' for the very interesting read on Gabe..I appreciate it and recommend it to others. I doubt if many realize that Gabe has accomplished quite a lot in the poker world. Nice tourney finishes and beating Balwin (and Fowler) head up is interesting. For $200,000 each I believe. Thanks for the link mo, good read. |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] seriously, brunson, wtf w/ak...? [/ QUOTE ] If Negreanu had 99,1010, or JJ and folded people would've been calling Todd a genius. Just like last week when DN folded the nut flush to Todd's bet. [/ QUOTE ] The problem with the push is that it's unnecessary. If DN has 99 1010, etc., with a pot of $50k he is more likely to call a $97k bet than say a $40-50k bet. I watched last years Pot limit final table at the WSOP. I think it was the 2nd or 3rd event. Flack is playing a pot with that young kid -- first name Tom. There are 4 people left and the two of them are by far the big stacks, the other two players are not even close. There is big preflop action (I think Layne bets the pot, Tom reraises the pot and Layne reraises him and Tom calls). Anway, the flop comes something like JT5r, Tom immediately pushes (he had quite a bit left) and Layne instantly calls. Turns out Tom had AK and Layne only had AT. I could not believe Layne made this call so quickly. I saw him a few days later and he told me that the only hand that Tom pushes so quickly with given the preflop action was AK (e.g., he loved his hand preflop but what hand would he love and be so quick to overbet the pot given that flop. If he hit anything he probably either value bets or thinks about it for a bit). Brunson's push was similar. BTW, Tom was left with a bit more than the blinds but managed to double up a few times, get heads-up with Layne and beat him for the bracelet. It was pretty impressive. It was a shame it wasn't televised. [/ QUOTE ] Very good point and great read, thanks. I agree if that Tom guy loved his hand post flop (like a set of jacks) he doesn't push. I have seen people push (in situations like this) after thinking for a while to totally throw the other person off. But highly unlikely. |

Wtf is wrong with ya guys?
A) The shot at Sexton was a shot Gabe made on himself. He reffered to himself as an old poker player turning into a broadcaster, and mentioned Sexton instead of himself to finish off that gag. Are you guys that off on your sarcasm meter? B) I have seen Jen plays in person exactly twice in my life, both time she was drinking a beer (once in Vegas in a cash game, 2nd during the PCA). She was constantly holding a beer in the Lobby and in the Airport at the Bahams. Unless it's the same bottle, she drinks reguarly and maybe heavily for a person her size. |

Yeah, but your last post said you didn't see it that way. Which means you're wrong, and since you're a nice fellow, you should be hitted repeatedly across the head with a heavy object.
