BTW, this is a pretty good synopsis of most people who graduate college, work on Wall St, and then take stock of their lives after 5 years. [/ QUOTE ] Cough cough. |

Is that two-hour movie worth $300? Is that evening with friends worth $1000? Because that's what you're sacrificing by watching that movie, or spending time with those friends. I mean, the movie can't be THAT good, and that evening can't be worth $1000, can it?! [/ QUOTE ] This is messed up. Money is only as useful as what you can do with it. If you're going to do nothing when you have money you might as well not have the money. |

[ QUOTE ] 8. BUSTO! [/ QUOTE ] I'm currently at this stage, but I'm much happier than I was in stages 5-7. Like Evan, I've been going the job route lately, and poker is fun again. [/ QUOTE ] I don't know about much happier because money is kind of an issue of concern and I have to watch what I spend. I've had some friends offer to stake me but I really have so little urge to play poker, plus I needed to leave the gambling atmosphere for awhile. I do have more of a social life now but the upcoming WSOP may bring the urge to play again. |

Maybe I'm weird, but I've gone through ups and downs and I still really like poker, thinking about the strategy, etc. I don't think I'm just in a honeymoon phase either, it fits my personality.
As far as pressure to make money before the games dry up, I don't think about this really. I'll always be able to make money doing something, if it's not poker, so be it, I'll still play because I like it, even if the games are tough and I'm breaking even. |

I was in stage 1 for 1 week and then went straight into stage 5. I'm still there.

[ QUOTE ]
he realizes that he will regret every second he didn't spend playing poker, so he is now forced to play everyday, as much as possible. once the player reaches this stage he is trapped. [/ QUOTE ] pretty accurate for anyone that's making good money whether its $100,$200 or $500 an hour ..could be much lower dollar amounts for many players..either way you are right about the concept of feeling trapped. On feeling trapped:I've planned 7 weeks of vacation this year away from poker already had 3-4 weeks off total this year-you need to force youself to take breaks. |
