Bonds started cheating in 1999 because he was jealous of the 1998 McGwire/Sosa lovefest, according to the book. [/ QUOTE ] So he began taking steroids *after* his fellow players because he was jealous of their media attention? The other negative that people constantly bring up against Bonds is that he's a complete ass to the media for telling them to leave him alone. Even if it's proven that he took steroids, I'd still think of him far more highly than other steroid users, because he would've been responding to his fellow players' cheating. I'm still waiting for you to explain how Bonds' batting averaged surged from .288 lifetime (before his run) to 4 of his 5 highest seasons consecutively, including .370. Was that steroids too? |

Since we are on the subject kind of. I was wondering if segregation was a written rule in baseball back in the day. Or, if I owned the Cubs back then would I be able to force my team to integrate in the mid 20's?

[/ QUOTE ] Not trying to get involved in this train wreck of a thread but weren't steroids linked to bettering eye sight? And aside from that, steroids adds muscle, more muscle means you can hit the ball harder and faster. It is much less likely that a ball is caught the faster it travels. Maybe that doesnt account for that big jump. Maybe Barry suddenly discovered the secret to hitting. Maybe maybe maybe. I really hope someone gets to the bottom of this situation because it is killing baseball |

Do these lists take into account average attendance or overall attendance? because comparing the attendance of 30 teams to other years doesnt seem fair... Baseball gets such a horrible rap from a lot of people because of steroids, can that be disputed? |

Despite what the media tries to shove down everyone's throat, most people don't give a [censored] about steroids. Edit: As far as attendance goes, you can use total attendance, average stadium capacity, or any other measure. The result is the same: baseball is more popular than ever. |
