After 25... h4 26. Rc5 Qe6 Isn't 27. Re5 pretty bad for black? [/ QUOTE ] Yes it is, looks like we need to be more careful where we put the queen, so 26. Qd7? |

25... h4 (logical and consistent)
26.Rc5 Qd6 (prevents 27.Re5) on 26. Rc7 Ra6 is awkward for white (27.a4 Q x b3) |

25... h4 (logical and consistent) 26.Rc5 Qd6 (prevents 27.Re5) [/ QUOTE ] It seems we need an answer to 26.Rc5 Qd6 27.Rh5 (gxh3 28.Qh3) before we can play 25...h4, since other queen moves don't look so good. |

Ok Tim, had to dust off the chess board for this position.
25. ...h4 26.Rc5 Qd6 27.Rh5 hxg3 28.Qh3!? gxh2+ 29.Kh1 and now either Kf8(unclear) or the very complex 29... Ng3+ 30.fxg3 Qc6+ which looks like a draw by repetiton, or is just very messy, but perhaps "good messy". White's King is exposed after 31.d5 Rxf1+ 32.Qxf1 Qc3! |

[/ QUOTE ] It's a wild ride if curtains goes for this (I doubt it the way he has played so far), but if it works I see no other reason to not play 25...h4. 26.Rc5 Qd6 (best, otherwise Re5) 27.Rh5 gxh3 28.Qh3 gxf2+ (last night I was only looking at gxh2, in which he has Kg2 instead of Kh1, then Rg6+ Kh1 bypasses the Ng3+ stuff. It still may be OK for us but I like this move better) 29.Kh1 (otherwise we have Rg6+) Kf8 30.Rh8+ Ke7 31.Rxe8+ Kxe8 32.Qc8+ Qd8 33.Qxb7 Re6 (If we had reached this position with a black pawn on h2 and a white pawn on f2, he can go 33.Rc1 threatening Rc8, but here it's not a threat because of ...f1=Q) And now: 34.Qxa7 loses immediately to 34...Qd5. 34.Bxf2 Nxf2+ 35.Rxf2 Re1+ 36.Kg2 Qg5+ etc. 34.Rc1 can be met by 34...Kf8 since he can't play Rc8 yet. 34.d5 Re7 35.Qc6+ Kf8 etc. Most other moves are met by ...Kf8 bringing us back to safety. |

That's pretty close... maybe I'll stop in to look around. I've not played OTB in 10 years and... not sure I've got the time to get back into it....
Seems this thing called poker zaps all my sleep time.... |

I was going to ask for a poll, however do we have any moves on the table besides h4?
