Your avatars make it harder to remember who I'm laughing at and who I'm agreeing with.

In any case, those calculators are completely worthless since they don't address hand ranges.

[/ QUOTE ]

um, how could you say that about Sklansky bucks vs actual buck in all-in pots?

It is mathematically proven that Sklansky bucks earned are more likely going to be closer to your actual earn than actual bucks

So 'completely worthless' seems a bit much

[/ QUOTE ]

You have to factor in Money won without showdown (which phils program does). Lots of nit-tags posted graphs with nice looking sklansky (red) lines, but their expected winnings were 0 cause they fold too much.

Anyone posting a graph should post the "Expected Total Winnings (ETW-teal)" lines on the graphs.

And whoever asked, I am +net run over 70k hands or so.

yeah I was referring to that. I'm not defending any other metric (yet)

edit: wait now I'm not so sure wtf these lines represent. anyway, I was talking about just the metric where only when you are all in you get sklansky bucks

No. You get it in with 80% equity. You win 90% of the times. You have a positive number. That's what soah was talking about.

[/ QUOTE ]

not quite

if people call my raises with whatever drawing hands, and never flop anything, then I'm running hot. None of these pots may be significant, but all these small pots add up, and I deserve to occasionally run into overpair vs set etc so when it doesn't happen, then I consider myself fortunate

on the other hand, if I am constantly missing my sets, then I'd say I'm running cold

none of these hands get shown down so they get overlooked most of the time... but whenever I seem to be running well, it involves me rarely losing a big pot, regardless of what my equity was at any point in the hand

or to look at it another way, getting AA vs KK and it holding up is running hot in exactly the same sense as getting KK vs AA and sucking out, if you assume the money all goes in preflop regardless of who has each hand. equity calculators may tell you that one is better than the other, but the reality is that random fate determined that one of you was going to win a big pot right there, and the exact method by which it happened is really pretty meaningless.

Pretty sure the only line to take in this hand is the one I took on FTP. Tilt cashout and move to Stars. Not like I want you at Stars... but FTP is so rigged it's a joke.

Sometimes I can't tell if some people are really dumb enough to believe "xxxx" site is rigged or they're just kidding.

It's rigged. I have never in my life won a single pot there. I have won a lot of money at other sites. Therefore it is rigged.
