dodgers are a better team now.

I don't really know what this means. Were the Cardinals a better team ealier in the year than the Dodgers when they swept the season series? It's the same two teams. The Dodgers may be playing better now, but that doesn't mean they are a better team. This could all change in a month.

I would be the happiest man in the world if the Cards could somehow acquire Jason Schmidt in the off-season for 12M per year or less

I would risk about 7M on Mulder if the Cards could offload Izzy's contract.

mulder will sign a one year deal and re-establish himself for the next year's free agent market. what remains to be seen is whether it will be of the matt morris incentive-laden type or the jeff weaver good money, short-term type.

i was really surprised with that duncan catch on the first hit, i figured it would be extra bases with him out there.

turns out it was so taguchi though, heh.

i was just about to type that suppan isn't looking hot in the few pitches he's given, and he just gave up a homer

Another great performance from Carpenter. Thank god LaRussa left him in to pitch the ninth.

"Since the start of August, Carpenter has issued exactly one walk."

the guy is a brilliant machine, it's so fun to watch.

how about preston wilson? i'll take a strikeout leader if he keeps hitting like that!

Speaking of which. With the Wilson and Duncan combo hitting one two. the cardinals probably have the most strikeout prone leadoff hitters in all of baseball.

ESPN listed the game as lasting just under two hours. Quick work!
