Or their biggest liability.

What about Internet Addiction, Masturbation Habits, and Other Topics, or IAMHOT for short?

I think the problem here is that everyone knows it would hurt the OOT forum. Even people like DB have to admit that splitting out A&E would hurt OOT. But it would create a good, quality forum. Would this new forum add more than it would hurt OOT? I think the answer is probably yes. Who care is the A&E stuff is in a different forum, if you want to talk about that stuff go there, if you don't, don't. No one is forcing you to stay in OOT.

I hang around OOT a lot, and I'm tired to trying to do entertainment stuff, just to see it washed away. I'm tired of hearing whines about 'I don't come here to read film reviews' or suchlike.

Does anyone see my point here?

[/ QUOTE ]

DB,

It seems crystal to me and I have never really understood why there was ever a need to complain in a review thread, if you don't come to OOT to read reviews then don't open up the thread that says "KINGPIN: A REVIEW," seems pretty easy, eh? I don't come to OOT for advice on how to pick up women so I rarely open up those threads or even post and bitch in them.

A&E is what I enjoy most and it does annoy me some too that reviews and such are buried so quickly but at the same time I realize that OOT houses many personalities so I cope with the idea that its going to be outhorsed by popping boners while dancing.

for an example of how snowballish things get, look back a week ago to the 'ask me' phenomenon. i'm not passing judgement on that here, just pointing out that it happened. and everything happens like that. if you let one off-topic post go in, others will post them too.

[/ QUOTE ]

So what? "Off topic" of what? Who do they hurt? Half of OOT is the snowball effect.

There were a few "ask me" threads on sports. That probably sucked for anyone who doesn't like sports. If you don't like sports, you have to deal for a day, until the wind blows through. You won't have to wade through crap threads, because those get a *. You just have to deal with the fact that OOT isn't thinking like you that day. Eliminating "off topic" threads creates a de facto topic, as has been pointed out in the "what's left" comments.

The more I think about it, the more I think your problem is that the copycat threads aren't * worthy but aren't good either. I don't have an answer to that.

Bad idea. I don't want to need to look in 3 forums (OOT, A&E, Sports) everytime I visit 2p2.
