When I think of a double tap I'm thinking somebody on the ground, or otherwise imobile and shooting him twice at close range, in the head. By your explanation just shooting a guy twice is a double tap.

yea, "tap" here is referring to you tapping the trigger. And i think people are hyper-sensetized to this type of stuff. If someone is a deadly threat to you, you need to shoot them until they're no longer a deadly threat. One shot is rarely enough to incapacitate someone, and if i'm a cop or security guard or armed citizen, i'm not gonna gamble with my life and risk being shot back because I am worried the public will get scared when the media says i'm rambo and "triple-tapped" someone.

[censored] the haters man. My dad lived in a apartment over a drug store when he was 11. The store got broken into one night around 2am and lets just say if my grandfather didn't have a gun at home I wouldn't be alive today. Not to mention a few weeks ago there was a cereal killer on the loose 10 minutes from my house.

ALSO not even 24 hours ago I was staying at my friends place downtown and somebody tried to break in. Luckily the alarm went off and the dude(s) ran but still, [censored] can happen.
