Even though I'll concede that the Wynn Poker Room has struggled at times, from reading your post it seems to me that you need to do some growing up.
You need to understand that up until a few years ago, casinos, in general, weren't very happy having poker. If you ever had the chance to talk to a casino executive let's say about five years ago, they would tell you that the majority of complaints they received came out of the poker room and that it only made up a tiny part of the casino revenue. Furthermore, I know for a fact that Steve Wynn seriously considered closing The Mirage Pokerroom before Belagio opened, and almost didn't allow poker in The Bellagio. So I don't suspect he'll be real impressed with your blog entries. Now getting back to the specifics that you describe, the shift manager was probably correct in telling you to pipe down. Did she handle it well? It doesn't sound like it. Can you do better? Absolutely. You need to understand that today's poker boom won't last forever (and may already be on the downswing). I believe it's important for the regular players who make a nice living from the game not to ever give casino executives an excuse to close their pokerroom. For if you do, the outcome may not be what you are hoping for. MM |

it is pretty ridiculous that she said the things she did and asked you to leave. It is actually pretty disgusting. In my experience, these drunken games provide dealers with 2-5x there normal tips and provides good publicity for whichever pokerroom you;re playing in. I guess it is better to choose 2nd tier poker rooms for this kind of thing. Never hand any problem at TI, Hilton, Hooter's. In fact, never had a probelm at the Wynn either, which in the past, has been a viable option to host a drunken poker game.

I think it's all been said. Basic summary...
Katherine's mistake was including "people playing for much higher stakes than you guys" in her request. She shoulda just kept it short and simple. OP's mistake was pretty much EVERYTHING that happened after this. I am a bit curious about the appearance of security. Did she ask OP to leave and he refused? I very rarely see poker floors call for security until it's clear they need them. If they feel threatened or feel like other folks are in physical danger, or eventually if their request that a player exit is refused, sure. But it's pretty rare for the goons to just suddenly appear and that to be the first time the player hears "you need to leave". So it feels like there MIGHT be a bit more to the original story, too. |

I have also been told that my table was having too good a time and keep it down. It was a Rockin 15-30 game at Wynn where the table was having a blast and we were told that the Hoodie guys at 1-2 NL could not concentrate. I had more on the table than the entire 1-2 game. We were taking shots at 6 in the morning, 3 bet every flop and tipping a redbird for every pot. It was just 10 people having a good time. The best game I ever played in.
Maverick; Next time just say sure we will keep it down and proceed with debauchery. That way the floor has said it to keep the Nits happy. I don't think a private conversation with the floor has ever worked. **TT** this was the weekend you played 26? straight hours at 15-30 at the Wynn. |

I have had a similar situation at the Wynn. After a big score at 25 50 some friends of mine who played low stakes showed up and I decided to get drunk and play 1 2 or 2 5. I had too much to drink and was being loud, but nothing mean and the people at my table where having fun (of course they had financial interest in seeing me stay) and I even told the people around me to tell me to shut up if it got annoying. Nobody said anything and people at the other tables even ordered some shots for me to thank me for the entertainment. All of a sudden the manager (it wasn't the same person you delt with) told me I had to leave. I asked why and he said people were mad about the noise. I said fine and left and told him to cash out for me. When he came out to give me my cash I asked him who got mad. He said the 25 50 game that i left was pissed and that there were some high roller regulars (i guess they played craps as well) that they couldn't piss off and they were mad that I was having a good time donking off their money at 1 2. At the time I got pissed and told him it was a BS reason and I should have gotten a warning first. I still agree.
