krantz - buy american apparel t-shirts. there is not really a bettter combo of style, quality and value available. japanese company uniqlo makes good stuff too - not sure how widely available for the moment though.

all, i will later be taking/posting some pics.

Neither AA or Uniqlo really makes "high quality" tees.
Uniqlo is really cheap, but hard to find. AA shirts are slim cut, but not really great quality. They also shrink like crazy.

At the start of the last couple of summers I've bought between 2-6 linen shirts, short and long sleeve. I wear them all summer with jeans and shorts. I'm not going to stop anytime soon.

[/ QUOTE ]

hell yeah. linen is the [censored].

what are your guys' favorite slippers?

[/ QUOTE ]

canvas white sandals (rainbows or whatever)

[/ QUOTE ]

when can you wear these with everything? jeans etc? I guess a better question is when do white sandals NOT go with something? I was thinking of buying a pair of those white rainbows.

i see you edited your post to be less antagonistic - nevertheless:

one thing i like to do when responding to posts is to pick up on little nuances that allow me to gain context. like, in this instance, the slight hint i picked up regarding the range krantz was talkiing about was when he said I WEAR LACOSTE T-SHIRTS.

had he said, for instance, "i normally wear dior t-shirts", then i would have provided relevant options.

quality you see is quite a relative thing. it is nowhere more relative than it is in the t-shirt market, where, in imprintables, which seems to provide the average joe with an enormous percentage of his t-shirts, the hanes beefy-t is still widely considered to be best in breed. now, i wouldn't buff my car with that shirt, but to lots of americans it is considered "high quality".

as far as your issues with american apparel shirts, that's fine. for me they shrink just enough to fit me perfectly, and i quite like the fabric - especially in The Summer Shirt line. also, just as an fyi, aa private labels (using standard aa cotton) shirts for lots of brands in the high fashion world - whether or not that makes them "high quality" is, obviously, subject to individual interpretation.

maulik,
i agree that tod's are awesome.

can an off the rack suit be made to fit very well or does it need to be custom made? if you buy an off the rack somewhere like nordstrom rack, are their tailors sufficient? will better tailors make them look a lot better? where do you find better tailors?

I wear Wallabee's with jeans all the times. They're some of my favorites

Don't like. The weird heel makes them even worse.

I just bought these...will be wearing them 90% of the time when I'm in a suit or slacks for school, hoping i can wear them with jeans the other 10% when I'm going out...they are really dressy though, so I'm wondering if they are too dressy for jeans. http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/25573192/c/82.html

I like. Slightly too dressy for jeans though. Might work with jeans and otherwise 'dressy' look like shirt, blazer, cufflinks.

Similar shoes but with brogue pattern would work better for jeans (I use it all the time)

I'd love to get some ideas for shorts if someone knows anything in this area.

How bad is it that my summer shopping consists of about 1 hour at old navy each may? Do you guys shop around online and read clothing forums and stuff?
