As long as you and your cash were in Vegas, why not try to get into the Big Game? Doesn't Negreanu have a standing HU open challenge for $500k to anyone who wants to play?

That's the part that bothers me. If we are going to consider poker a sport (not saying it is or that we should, just to make a point), when making poker shows, the producers shouldn't care at all about colorful personalities or how much someone talks at the table. They should care about getting the real best players and having the public watch them. I'd much rather watch a basketball game between the two best teams than one between the two teams who'll put up a better show. It's the same thing. Who the [censored] cares about Hellmuth whining and calling other people names? Or Sammy Farha and Eli Elezra tilting off huge amounts of money? Meh, we've seen it before. And even if we hadn't, we should only care to watch a player based on his skill, not on his personality. I mean, even if I had never played a hand of poker before I'd say that. We're watching a game, not a movie. We are seeking for skill.

Comparing an athletic event where people have trained their whole lives to reach the pinnacle of their sport, to poker is beyond absurd. Watching basketball on television with no volume is still exciting to watch because the game of basketball IS EXCITING TO WATCH.

Without colorful personalities and or remarkable storylines poker is rather boring to watch. Yes I know this is considered blasphemy to those that rail the high stakes games on the net - but to the average tv viewer its true.

im pretty sure he ended this a while ago because he knew he would go busto. im pretty sure he did it to promote the wynn poker room and they put up some of the money or whatever since all the matches were played there.

Well, it's probably as boring as chess. Who cares. If you like it you'll always enjoy watching a good match. To me it's very exciting watching two very good poker players, outthinking each other on tv. Watching some 'colorful personality' tilt is not though.

Golf is an athletic event, poker is not. I am not debating that poker played at a high level is interesting to watch. I am just saying it doesn't make for great tv to the average viewer.

Golf isn't any more athletic than poker. It is a game. 65 year old men play golf on TV and people watch it, how athletic can it be?
