Your two points are contradictory. Obviously, if the fish don't notice or care about the rake - and the site traffic analysis evidence supports this - then it is not a big deal. It is abundantly clear that rake is simply not a major factor in site choice both for fish and for pros. I suspect it's not even a minor factor, given WPX's performance.
