I think Howard and Gabe played a lot together over the years and are familiar with each others game. They know what the other guy is capable of. Howard had position and basically outplayed a good play by Gabe in that one hand. There was a similar hand last night.

Howard Raises pre-flop with Q9 or close, Gabe calls with K10
Flop 244
Howard bets,
Gabe calls,
Turn 2, check, check
River 5, Howard gives up and checks, Gabe bets 10k (I think to make Howard throw away an ace). Would Howard have thrown away an ace? Anyway, if Howard had position in this hand, it would have played completely different.

Konik is really annoying, asking for chip counts of players who put in raises BEFORE looking at his cards.

[/ QUOTE ]

That's not uncommon. Nothing annoying about it.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes, it is not uncommon. But it is annoying and slows down play, sometimes for no reason.

I think that if he's the kind of player who is capable of making moves with the trash hands when he asks for chip counts then it's fine. If he is always going to throw away those hands and he's doing it out of habit then it's very annoying.

I've heard that after the play finished last night, Howard put out the feelers for a 4-way chop. As of this morning 2 of the other guys agreed but one did not and I think it was Gabe. I guess they were all calling Gabe today to see if he'd decided to chop but all are planning on showing up for the play tonight so it looks like either gabe hasn't called anyone back or he's sticking to his guns. I guess it's up to Gabe now. Wonder if they'll talk about Gabe not wanting to chop if in fact they do end up playing it out. If they decide to chop will they all show up and just talk or just rerun parts of the last few nights?

This has certainly been a good week to watch. I am a certified Gabe lover. He is so witty when he's not trying too hard. And unlike some other posts in this thread, I think he has a ton of game.

Tonight, Phil Gordon in effect told the dealer to STFU. He seems very defensive for some reason. The dude is obviously smart, yet he acts like he always has something to prove. My guess is he has some Jamie Gold syndrome going. When things are going well, he is happy go lucky, but when not he can be whiny.

Sexton's big flop bet on that all diamond board seemed real sloppy to me. A smaller bet could have gotten the job done I think. He didn't have to double Howard up there.

[/ QUOTE ]

I noticed that too, and when Shauna asked him if he could do anything differently, that was the move that stuck out to me. I think things go down much differently if he loses 7 or 8k less on that hand (5k bet instead of 10k, and then saving the 3k extra).

Btw, anyone notice that Gabe seems to be developing a tremor or shakiness in his voice? I didn't notice in season 1 or 2 of HSP, but it's becoming more pronounced on HSP3 and PAD.
