Miles is right, I worded it very subjectively. Boz, you didn't really help.

DD,

what do you feel you're poker ceiling is (in stakes) in
online holdem?
live holdem?

How do you go about quitting well?

how do you handle tilt?

how do you manage bankroll?

what should a small stakes US player do to reach mid stakes holdem games
-with his bankroll?
-with his site selection?

Would you consider yourself more mathematical or instinctive?

When you talk about game selection what are you looking at?

I know you mentioned it earlier but specifically do you examine the seating before you sit at a table to check there is a good position available?

How does live game selection work w/ the more limited availability?

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes, if the seat on the left of the fish is open I will sit almost regardless of anyone else at the table. I look for loose tables obviously, I use PT stats to help with that but I also watch to see coldcalling raises preflop, open limping in middle or later position.

In live play, it helps to know the regulars which I do now at Commerce. There is less table selection so seat selection is more important, and moving to a better position is something lazy players don't consider but its very valuable. Also, if the game sucks, the game selection decision is play or don't play. There are always lower stakes games at Commerce that are never tough so if the 100/200 is no good at a particular time, playing 40/80 or something is good for my bankroll and keeping my variance low by not playing in tough games where my edge is reduced.

Firstly, congradulations on your success.

How many tables did you play when you started to seriously move up limits?

This is DavidC, for what it's worth, and I play 2/4 -> 5/10 now, and NL as high a 5/5 but generally more like 0.25/0.5.

[/ QUOTE ]

I've always played between 1 and 4 tables. I've tried more a few times but my results haven't been very good doing so. When I move up to a new level I always start with one and then add a second table and two table for awhile before I am comfortable. The less tables the better my reads are but obviously the lower my $/hour.

Do you ever play MTTs or STTs? If so, at what limits?

Can you get Joe to jump in the well?

I'm beginning to think that the difference between winning and losing players is actually quite small, both preflop and post-flop, when you start to look at the actual cost and frequency of errors that are made at the table.

Do you agree or disagree with that?

[/ QUOTE ]

This reminds me of how some fish justify their play by remembering certain results that worked out for them. "My 45 suited beat pocket aces before, why shouldn't I call this raise?". Poker is a beautiful game because its not intuitive or obvious how to play because the results frequently don't meet the expectation and nobody has enough appreciation for the long term to see through the variance. I definitely do not agree with your statement.

Why have you stuck with LHE rather than NLHE?

[/ QUOTE ]

I have tried to learn NLHE - I suck at it. I get bored with it. I think its painfully boring to play NL and live NL is even worse. It's funny because NL players will say the same thing about limit. My brain is wired for limit because of all the hands I've logged and my understanding of the game. Right now NLHE is huge and probably more profitable, but limit concepts are more applicable to other games (just about all of which are limit besides PLO) and I definitely think limit games will remain in the future while NL games will dry up.

Deathdonkey,

Can you post your pic?

Thanks,

[/ QUOTE ]

It's been posted on 2+2 a couple times. Once I did myself in OOT with my wife (then fiancee) in the picture. If someone is deft enough with searching to find that (shouldn't be hard if you search for all my OOT posts of which there are very few).

Deathdonkey,

Another question: Do you use keepass (or other password remembering software) to keep track of your passwords for each online poker site or do you just have the software on your computer remember it?

Thanks,
Buzz

[/ QUOTE ]

Neither. I guess I just remember them.
