I didn't say that he was a bad player because of the turnovers. The best players in the league alway have the most turnovers because they have the ball all the time. My point was that in the post I was replying to, GKA was quoting his 3.4 TO like it was some major accomplishment or reduction in his TOs, but it wasn't. It also wasn't connected to my earlier comment that AIs FG percentage is not related that much to the players he plays with. Everybody jumped on this because they assumed that it meant that I was saying AI is a bad player, which is retarded.

Great Simmons Article on AI [/ QUOTE ] God damn Simmons is good on the NBA. He should never write about anything else. Denver is a legit contender now, even with the suspensions. Iverson is gonna be a beast. The people who think he's too selfish to be a winner are really wrong; dude is a warrior and is going to be phenomenal on a team with talent. I think Simmons' Barkley analogy is excellent. |

i think AI is a great player and i think it's silly to debate that. the question is, and the question has always been, is he capable of fitting his individual game into a team dynamic that will produce wins? AI supporters have always said he hasnt had any good players alongside him so we can't answer that question, well that wont be an excuse anymore.
my questions are, other than the obvious one of can the two co-exist are...even if anthony and AI go nuts and have career scoring years, does that automatically translate into more wins? how about wins during playoff time when the game changes with an emphasis on defense? assuming AI and melo have the ability to mesh their games, how long will that process take? will it happen this season? i dunno, im sure this makes denver a much more exciting and interesting team and i *do* think it makes them better in the short-term but i think the west is too tough to put them as a favorite. SA, Pho, Dallas, Utah, possibly even the Lakers and Houston once they are healthy - those are all better teams imo. |

And really, the East will be too, maybe not as good in Round 1 but beyond that. Miami, Orlando, Detroit, Cleveland, Chicago, Washington, all fun to watch. |

The Nuggets play the Suns tonight. Should be a score-fest. But it's not on National TV!

AI supporters have always said he hasnt had any good players alongside him so we can't answer that question, well that wont be an excuse anymore. [/ QUOTE ] I think the trip to the Finals, and the Olympics run that AI had, give some inkling as to how he'll play. I think a lot of people are going to be surprised by how AI adjusts his game in Denver. I think, especially after the Finals trip and the last few Sixers years, that winning is going to be even more important to him than before. He wants a ring- he's gotten MVP and scoring titles already. He can be primadonnish, but in the situations that he's been through here, who can blame him (somewhat)? The Sixers haven't been managed well and have tried to trade him multiple times in multiple years... and Iverson puts a premium on loyalty. I hope he does well- he was always a Philly warrior. Oh, and to whomever questioned whether he can adjust to the Denver altitude- I'm laughing at you. :P |

I have it too.. not sure if AI is playing tonight, though. His debut might be in Sacramento. I'd go to the game if I weren't flying out that night. Damn it.
