Leinart just had another great game (over 100 passing rating; 62.5% completion rate). But the stats don't tell everything. Leinart was just in control the entire game. He was audibling as much as I've seen any other non-Peyton QB audible, which is amazing considering he's a rookie. He just seemed to ooze coolness and confidence. Yes, I'm biased because I'm a Cardinal fan, but I'm glad to have him as the Cards QB for years to come.
I haven't seen the Colts game yet, but the stats make it seem like Young had a decent (though not spectacular) game. Young and Leinart could be genuine stars for years to come. |

[/ QUOTE ] Vince Young had a very good game for his QB style against the Colts, in fact I'd go so far as to say he was the reason they won. His throws were never really on the money, and he had two picks, but his runs were, unlike Vick, very "controlled". On 3rd and 8, he'd sit in the pocket, check down, then run for 12 and hop out of bounds. He didn't try to break a big play, just kept the drive alive, and kept himself healthy. Indeed, he'll be very good in years to come, as long as coaches don't expect him to win solely with his arm. Cody |

Don't forget that both QB's had a pretty damn good running attack going on Sunday. That has alot to with QB success. Leinert was allowed to do his audibles because he saw the SS sitting on the edge and knew that they were either in cover 0 or a deep free safety. I'm sure Young saw much of the same. Teams like pressuring young quarterbacks, it's just on how the QB's react and how their Offensive coordinators respond.

However, the game before, Leinart was up against the best run defense in the NFL. They limited the Cards to only 5 rushing attempts and 17 yards. Leinart threw for 405 yards and was inches away from a big 4th quarter comeback (Fitz was slightly out of bounds on the second to last play of the game). Unfortunately, he did have two interceptions. However, the game plan going into Minnesota was obvious: abandon the run and rely on the passing game. The fact that the OC would have that strategy with a rookie QB is amazing. |
