Not saying it's good or bad (haven't seen it), but you could film a dog food commercial, call it a "James Bond" movie, and it would make $30 million the first weekend.

The last 2 Pierce Brosnan Bond movies were #1 and #2 in opening weekend grosses until this past weekend.

I'm there with you. While I liked the action sequences and the dark Bond character, I thought the plot wasn't focused, the transitions were crap and the supporting characters one-dimensional.

And everyone in the movie is an [censored] slow-roller.

I saw CR last night and I loved it. It was the best Bond film ever. The poker scenes were tortuous of course, but the best part of the movie was that they got the series back to it's roots, throwing out the campyness and going the dark and gritty route, which they've needed to do for years.

One comment on the torture scene, Bond is credited as a former Navy man who spent time in the SAS, and it's quite common during SAS training to have to endure the most rigorous torture methods anyone can devise. Those guys are trained for just that kind of abuse, and this is a common occurance in the books, both the ones by Fleming, and the ones by John Gardner. I don't think it's unreasonable at all to expect a guy like that to undergo an awful lot of torture without cracking.

Took an extended lunch hour today from work to see CR. I loved it. The opening chase scene / embassy scene was fantastic. Great Bond movie!

What a [censored] bad one this movie was. I did understand that it would be horrible but this [censored] horrible. Bond wasn't even bond. He lacked EVERYTHING. His behavior was like some little kid etc. I want the 2 hours of my life back. Very dissapointing. I hope they rename the next "bond" movie to james hollywood or something other but it's not james bond anymore. What an awful rape. I started to laugh very hard at some point, I was like "LOL I SAW THAT COMING hahaha, so bad".

Haven't read any books as of yet but I'm going to.
IIRC my favorites were (watched them all in a span of few days last year but I've seen them like hunderd times.) golden gun, goldfinger and diamonds are forever(?). I can't remember if diamonds are forever was one of them but I can't recall any other either. I'm not an HC fan but I like bonds [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]
